Ural gnaws hole in riding pants

Post by sagerat » Tue Apr 19, 2016 10:12 pm

I've put about 40,000 miles on my BMW Rallye suit and the velcro on the wrist, collar, and ankles was getting tired, particularly the first two. Got looking at inside of left pant leg and the material above the ankle was badly frayed. Pretty much 99% of the way to a hole.

Repetitive wear, not a cut. Hmm, no sharp edges on GSA. Sit on Ural. Hello, Mr. Kickstarter Lever! Frayed area in lower left pant leg and 90-degree angle in lever are a perfect match. Who knew?

/2, /5 and very early /6 BMW owners did...basically same kick starter, same issue. So you can guess who originally designed that kick start lever that hasn't changed much in 75 years...

You can cut it and offset it towards the rear. I moved mine about 2.5". Photo if you like.

I used white duct tape to seal the holes in my black winter riding pants. Duc tape is no joke.
