Waaay way out in the boonieson an old forest service trail in the Colorado Rockies, with my wife..... and...wtf!!! ... the pusher picks up a nail! What’s a nail doing way out here? I’ll never know

40 minutes later and Ive swapped out the pusher with the spare while the wife watches with profoundly amazed admiration.
(And, yes, I had previously removed the bolts that secure the brake rotor, and put antiseize on them, which made the job easy-peasey..., and, yes, I had all the tools and a scissors jack!)

How does it get better than this?

When I last checked the FD oil I thought it looked a bit "milky" (difficult to tell unless you put a drop on something dark, then it looks slightly opaque), I was convinced I hadn't got any spare so got Amazon to deliver a bottle ASAP, i.e. next day, did the oil change today, only to discover when rummaging about in the shed for funnels etc., I have got a bottle! (Didn't see it originally 'cause it's lying down in the plastic storage box because otherwise it's too tall for the lid to go on)

Drained it off, YEUGH!!

Bear in mind last change was beginning of November last year, and we had a very wet Autumn & Winter.

It also got new sealing washers (a Dowty on the drain)

Well...yesterday, but I didn't post. I put it back together after looking for a noise, and rode it to get oil. I also changed the rear brake pads. I then w@$#ed...only the seat, just the seat, don't get excited.

Completed the wet part of 5000 km service after 130 miles nice ride with the wife to accomplish 5000 km on the odometer. 😅

Engine oil and filter changed. The manual say check gearbox and FD fluids, but I changed both fluids as well. Fresh fluids won't hurt.

Did the 15,000 mile service on my M70, second service since the 2020 upgrade. Oil was dark, but no fines in it, no sign of swarf on the magnet.

Plugs looked textbook perfect for todays fuel. Cloudy clean center electrode and insulator, trace of light tan deposits on ground electrode, and some medium to dark brown deposits on base.

Finally starting to sound like a proper Ural again, after the upgrade it seemed almost too quiet.

Changed the fluids for the first time since the new Sergej engine, plus put the fairing on for winter, polished the plexiglas. Then a victory ride in the autumn air.

Ahh, one of the fortunate ones to have a Sergey built motor. Best of luck with it, mine has more than 80,000 klicks on it since he rebuilt it back in 2012 and it runs like a top. Getting close to 100K and hope to see many more. Take good care of it and it will reward you with many miles of service. It will be a sad day when Sergey retires, he has the magic touch with these things, but I suspect he, like John Browning, will pass away at his workbench doing what he does best and enjoys. Long Live Sergey.

Pulled the final drive (FD) and lubed the FD splines and the 2WD spline for sidecar. Swapped spare and pusher; plan to put new rubber on spare. Running Duro knobbies on all wheels.

Pulled the sidecar wheel off for a tire change a chunk of shoe fell out. Know what I'm gonna do about it? Not a damn thing!

Noticed a crack in my RH complacence fitting. Had an extra in my stash, about a 10 minute job to switch out. Funny thing is the bike ran perfectly with the bad one.
