I see peanut butter on soda biscuits.
Mashed taters and peas on bologna.

Pork-N-Bean sandwiches … .19 cent loaf of white bread and a generic .25 cent can of beans… eat all week for less than half a buck…

To make dinners more palatable, I’d pair it with ketchup and Vienna sausage “soup”… :lol:

From colledge in the late 60's. 5# blocks of yellowish govt surplus cheese (got nuthin' on Velveeta) and the same in in big tubs of PB. They actually came to the off-campus "housing" unit I was living in and handed them out.

I'm glad to see that some here understand that 'poor' is a state of mind whereas broke means you have no money .

Parts of the 1960's and early 1970's I was very broke indeed .
