Thank you for the replies. So. They have it listed for 12k now.
The owner of the dealership is Russian, and wanted it.
I was just curious of how this rig's price went up instead of down in 5years.

The market is in a COVID / chip shortage bubble, and prices are dumb right now. You probably got what would normally be a fair price. C’est la vie.

"Sold my 2015 Ural Ct with 17445 Km for $8400; had it for almost 5 years"

I suppose maybe just a little bit, or I paid to much.

I bought a 2017 GU with approx 3k? on the clock for 11k. Maybe I paid to much?? It was/is in pristine condition. Although I had some rear brake light/speedo problems (replaced r/brake light switch and speed sensor). The low gas indicator always flickers, but is mostly on. However, the money part is only a small part of the deal. I'm very happy with my bike, and we have lots of fun on it...so there's that...

We're taking it up to the NC mtns this Oct to ride the Blue Ridge pkwy. Should be a nice cruise on the pkwy. Just the right speed limits... I'm trailering it up though, riding would eat into the time up there with only 5 days off...

I suspect motorcycle dealers / shops like to park a Ural out front to draw in the tire kickers. I think my local shop likes to do this from what I've seen. Especially when they had the orange one. On and on and on about how "neat" and "rare" it was, and they would park it waaaay out front practically on the service road. A cheaper used one works just as well, and I've seen them use one of those too.

I was once told the best days in a boat owners life is the day he buys it and the day he sales it

I suspect the saying also applies to ural

No way would I buy it for what the dealer is asking so I think you should count this as one of your best days :)

I never pay attention to asking prices @ a dealer. That's just their starting price for negotiation.

I sold a 2015 ct to a dealer for 9500. Was shocked he gave me that much. Said he could sell it quick, was in good shape, looked good…or pay 20 for a new one. He sold it in 2 weeks had it listed for 11
