Scary Stuff this Booster failure on the way to the ISS today

I wonder if Ural made the booster? NO one was hurt as they aborted and the crew was picked up already but it could have gone wrong so easily.

With Russian technology, you always have to be prepared to get out and walk or call for a tow.
I am glad it was set up for an escape contingency.
My Russian almost always gets me home.
I may not be good, but I'm slow.

I was around when the first men when into space and I can't ever remember an abort of a manned launch. Iffy at best.

Considering the safety record of this particular Soyuz rocket, this is the first failure in over 50 launches from the FG variant. Comparably, NASA can’t post the same reliability. Just keeping it objective.

yeah, but prior Soyuz failures have been a lot more dramatic than this. And let's not get into NASA's retrieval from failure rate. And if one wants to get picky, only Russia has lost folks IN space, we've lost ours in the atmosphere (unfortunately, so has Russia), both times...sadly. Both have had other on ground problems, that cost lives. Some more explosive than others. Would be nice to be able to retire ancient designs like Atlas and Soyuz and the others for something a wee bit more modern. When using cutting edge tech, even if it is aging, one my get cut and bleed.

Well SpaceX is doing good stuff and seem to be on a course of using what work and adding to it. BUT with the We'' be on MARS by 2024 lets hope they don't push too hard too fast.

If you go to the official NASA site the English speaking narrator working from pre-produced animation (after the blast-off) continues to read from a script even after the flight is aborted, like nothing was wrong... just a routine flight. We know this because the translated subtitles on the bottom of the same video of the Russian controller are really telling you what's happening. And also other non-government sites. What the heck is wrong with NASA?

How and why the NASA animated version continued to keep going on-and-on "live" like nothing was wrong is really a disgrace.
JFK must have been spinning in his grave. Anyway, Thank God the Astronaut and Cosmonaut are safe.
