Planing a Fishing Trip....Essentials

Post by Wildhorse Cafe » Wed Jun 13, 2018 5:05 pm

I'm planing a trout fishing trip to Lake Webber, up in the Sierras the second week in July. I am working on my essentials list so far I've come up with the following:
fishing flies
2 dogs
coffee
slab bacon
cast iron skillet
fixings for redeye gravy
two loaves of wonder bread
American cheese
beer and red wine

No ice or refrigeration. Can anyone else come up with some suggestions?

How does the absence of ice or refrigeration reconcile with taking bacon, cheese, beer and wine on the trip?

High Seirra snow melt lake water for the beer. Chilled red wine? What am I a heathen?
Cured country slab bacon, hard cheese and fresh eggs are good for two weeks without refrigeration.

The best bacon I ever had was from Mahogany Meat in Bishop Ca. They say their bacon is good for 10 days without refrigeration .A lot of horse / fishing guides buy there.
They will ship , but only in California. But, that was 12 years ago. Don't know if they are still in business .
