Clutch plates question

The spline teeth on the clutch plates of my 2014 Patrol are shot again. I'd like to get the bike running again ASAP and know someone who has some NOS plates for a 650 Ural. I want to know if I can use them as a temporary replacement while waiting for new clutch plates to come in. Will they work on t...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

I called and left a voicemail with Jason at Ural HQ in Redmond to ask him about me doing the clutch swap. It will be weeks before a mechanic can touch my bike and I've only got a few weeks of warranty left. I want to make sure it's fixed before then.

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

In my limited experience, I had one set of plates last 40,000kms and another set at 20,000kms (on both it was the teeth) with no change in riding habits. When I reach my next 20,000km mark I’ll pull the tranny and see. Just stating this because I don’t want you to think you’re alone. FWIW the 20,00...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Statements like that, and in a previous post where you mention doing 60 on long hills in 3rd makes me think that perhaps you need to dial it back a little bit. Maybe get a CHT so you can monitor cylinder temperature, so you know when to back off the throttle. You've had more trouble with your rig i...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Well, I think I figured out the issue with the power loss. The spark plug wire for the left cylinder was just a bit loose, as in sort of slipping off the spark plug. In the light of day, fresh, not worn out at the end of a long ride, I had the mind to check that and BINGO. As for the clutch, the bik...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

How hard and for how long ? I know, I know. That's what she said. But seriously ? You mentioned on ADV the power issue came up after fueling, then went away after a while. How low on fuel were you? Could you have been cutting it close and got some air in the fuel line? Kinda surprising you went thr...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

What did I do on my Ural today? I think I wore out another clutch plate, that's what. I also experienced a loss of power as if a cylinder quit firing for a bit. I was limping home slowly and then the bike had full power again. Could this have been from riding too hard without taking a good break for...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

My clutch seems to be going out again. Not only that, but today I experienced a major loss of power as if one cylinder quit firing or something. I noticed the clutch making the noise it made in South Dakota when the clutch plate’s spline teeth were worn out. I decided to cut my ride short and head d...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

I went on a long, 321 mile ride yesterday. Once again, I had a four legged passenger in the sidecar. Man, we really got caught off guard by the weather. It's been hot recently. I got up and started getting geared up, putting on mesh riding pants and jacket. I walked outside and it felt just a tad bi...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

Today I did some wrenching. I changed the oil and did the valves. Last time, all the valves were in spec. This time, both left valves were a bit loose and on the right side, the intake valve was tight and the exhaust valve was good to go. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180401/4a13f4ae4831fde467a...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

I finally got around to mounting a spare gas can that Charlie (UralCT) gave me last summer. Now I will have far less range anxiety without having to use up space in the trunk for gas. And I think it adds to the rugged good looks of the Ural https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180331/f4e07b9de2b1789ba...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

So, I'm guessing teachers aren't paid a whole lot in Texas? No, teachers aren't paid a whole lot in Texas, but they aren't paid too bad, either. I spent a whole lot of time in the military (but not enough to retire) when my oldest kids were growing up and they were always healthy and, in the milita...

Re: My Ural (Mis?)Adventure, so far.......

So what happened to you selling? I don't really want to sell the bike. But I would sell it for what's left on my loan, just for financial reasons. You can see that I've not been really serious about selling it yet, because as of now, I can still just afford groceries. I'm trying to get a second job...
