Re: Has anyone used the M2Boxer EFI retrofit for 2014-2018 Urals?

I've translated the Installation manual into English. Just need to format it and check a few things. Artsemi, if I give you the Russian words, and what I think that the English should be, can you confirm it?

Re: Ural Sidecar Craigslist find

It may have started out life as a Ural sidecar, but judging from the sidecar swingarm mounts, I'd suggest a Dnepr basis. "I need front and rear fender lights, side reflectors, a windshield, trunk weather stripping, trunk luggage rack, spare tire and a tonneau cover with hardware (plus whatever else ...

Send me a PM with your email. I'll let you know about bikes this side, and something else, best not said in public.

Re: Advice needed

Your choices for solos are - IMZ M-63, M-67-36, 8.123 KMZ K-650, MT9, MT10-36 (generally converted sidecar bikes.) Depending on the state, you might need an Engineer's Certificate to convert from a sidecar to a solo. Idiots in the various Transport Departments are making life bloody difficult. From ...

Re: Advice needed

It's a M-67, taillight gives it away. Check for a compliance plate or import paperwork or previous registration papers, otherwise you may have a lot of problems getting it registered. If it has a reverse gear, them it originally had a sidecar. If no reverse gear, then it was originally a solo and pr...

Re: Saddam Hussein's Ural?

The Iraqi bikes had aftermarket aluminium cylinders and airbox made by KBMTS http://kbmtc.ru/Filtr%20bozdyxa.htm From memory the flywheel was modified in some manner as was the crankshaft. Possibly a 720 crankshaft with 650 pistons.

Wikipedia is a good source.
English Wikipedia is full of errors. Russian wikipedia is much better, but still has errors.

Re: Motorcycles USSR

I got my copy direct from https://www.veloce.co.uk/store/Motorcycles-&-Motorcycling-in-the-USSR-from-1939-p135968930 It had a 40% Christmas discount and arrived only nine days after postage. Normally, books from the UK to Australia take 20 days or more. As I previously said, the photos alone are a g...

Just received it on Monday. For historical accuracy, I give it a B-, for photos, I give it an A+++. Even with the errors, it's well worth adding to your bookshelf.

Re: M61 wheel bearing and hub help !!!

I couldn't find any bearings with a 57mm OD in any brand, let alone one with a 20mm ID. Closest was a 52mm OD 20mm ID. Is the other bearing the same? How about the other wheel?

Re: 2015 with cracked rims

Just call the NHTSA and get this problem fixed once and for all. Here is the complaint form https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/ Are you all waiting for someone to die to correct this problem that affects multiple years and multiple owners? Back in the 1950s BMW recommended strongly again...
