Re: Front Disk Brake Problem on 2014
Oh crap!!! scary indeed. Good thing you and your boy are ok. That would definitely do it. The wheel just rides along the shaft with nothing to stop its travel. Yikes.

Re: Front Disk Brake Problem on 2014
From looking at this the inner (right side) pistons weren't working. The outer piston pushed the caliper over and it ground off the pad brackets on the caliper - the source of the noise and the reason it needed to be pumped up. If this bike is still under warranty you should get a new caliper. bud3...

Re: What would you like to see new/different here at Soviet Steeds?
John, this site is great and I thank you for keeping it going. The main purpose is to learn and share information and knowledge about Urals and it accomplishes that very well. Getting to know others who also enjoy the same thing is also nice. The majority of the crowd are all nice folks and I have l...

The consequences for driving without a license and insurance should be much more harsh than a stinking ticket. At the very least, the car should be expounded and auctioned off. No license means he was either not competent enough to get one, or lost it for some reason.

Re: Wrong place, wrong time
Glad you're ok. What a shame to have to deal with an arrogant deadbeat too. No proof of insurance and no license. A police report might have been helpful. As others mentioned, the bike will be repaired but your health is more important.

Re: Service Bulletins
Low fuel lights were an issue but not really worth dealing with. Use the odometer. Black butterflies if you're having any idling issues.

Re: New throttle butterflies for early 2014's
Sorry. I don't know by looking at it. The issue I had was that when I released the throttle they did non fully close. I had to push down on the return adjustment and could feel it "click" into place. It only happened when the engine was warm. When the new butterfly's were installed it resolved the i...
