Re: Is a Ural M70 Steering Damper Really That Necessary?

You could just swap the upper and lower triple-tree clamps and use the older friction damper that was used for the first 72 years...

Re: Fell on a K750 now what year

Thanks guys...I ran it through the DMV vin check and its out of the system or doesn't exist. That's a good thing because a lot of bikes I looked at buying had huge fees due and unpaid. Last year I bought a 1958 Travel trailer with no paperwork. Told dmv it was a gift and relative was no longer aliv...

Re: 1966 Ural Solo?

Not an M-66. An M-66 has a nicely arched frame at the upper part of the rear shock. Every Ural since the M-67 (except the Wolf/Retro) has a straight upper frame at this point. In fact, the M-66's immediate predecessor, the M-63 (same bike as the M-66 but without the buttugly gas tank) is debatably t...

Re: 1966 Ural Solo?

Mid-1990's Solo, hence the upswept pipes. Should have a reverse lockout, different final drive ratio, and 18" wheels, too, if I remember correctly...

I'd be willing to bet you're only running on one cylinder.
Maybe fuel starvation?

Re: New to both Ural/Dnepr AND MCs

Yep. I had to make up the website for myself because I have a tendency to forget stuff and I have to break it down to the simplest level because I'm not real smart, either! And yes, the Dnepr 650cc is supposed to be superior in design to the Ural 650cc, but not necessarily superior in implementatio...

Re: New to both Ural/Dnepr AND MCs

Like everyone else said: early model Dnepr 650cc OHV engine because of the head/carb vertical bolt pattern as opposed to the later horizontal bolt pattern. Bike frame is an M-67. An M-63 has arched supports at the rear shock tower. You frame is straight there. Plus, the M-63 has the older style gas ...

Re: 2014 fun

IMO, anyone that is unable to figure out what the intention of the warnings are has no business owning a machine like a Ural in the first place. The subject of this thread is just one example of the type of things that have endured me to these Russian beasts. Endeared?!?!?! Maybe you had a hand in ...

All the non-reverse gearboxes are like that.

Re: A Dnepr as you have probably never seen one!

if it really is from the '50's I could not get a title for it anyway on my state, no how, no way...even if it already had one they will not issue you one...register on bill of sale only for pre 1963 (I believe) and title is optional on anything 25 years of age or older. Had to argue to get the titl...
