Re: OK so this sucks..................

Excess water near your vacation getaway? Still see no reason not to get out and ride.

Re: Got hit today

Once the hospital saw me walk in the emergency room door due to an SUV pulling out in front of me, they wanted insurance information, and specifically if there was auto insurance involved. The SUV's insurance was not planning to pay until some total was available, and follow up requirements were not...

Re: movie RAILROAD TIGERS

You will see red spots where solders are shot, and there will be plenty of them. There are no graphic injury scenes. Subtitles are needed to really understand, so smaller kids might not read fast enough. There is enough action that should keep them interested, even if they don't know the details. No...

movie RAILROAD TIGERS

Currently on Netflix. Subtitles. Cartune-ish in some portions, mixing in bits of humor with the generally amateur & bungling efforts to attack and defend WW2 occupation forces in China. Sidecars with pointed noses and spare wheels on the trunk featured in a few places, with the grand chase scene abo...

Re: Planning 2018 vacation by car along US Canadian border

Already started with selecting the 2018 vacation schedule at work, bit of a process with plenty of rules. My longer trips are made by selecting less desirable times of year, allowing more weeks in a row due to less competition. Thanks for the couple route suggestions, waiting to see what time is ava...

Re: Planning 2018 vacation by car along US Canadian border

This would be hotels, not camping, and the exact route is not yet known, but do not want the same path both ways. Not sure I can sell the wife on feeding the bugs, even if there are a variety of them. Less traffic on scenic back roads is the goal, along with finding a few interesting stops.

Planning 2018 vacation by car along US Canadian border

Likely Great Lakes region to West coast along bottom of Canada, then returning along top of US. Looking for suggestions of best time of year (perhaps not the rainy season) and stops along the way. Will have 2 or 3 weeks, would prefer to concentrate what little time there is on the Western portion, j...

Smartphone emergency TXT with GPS location

Saw this "instuctable" and thought it might be interesting to riders. You can get a NFC tag and stick it in any place you can easily reach, and if you hold your phone next to it, it will sent a preset TXT. I had the wind knocked out of me by an SUV a year ago, so just having a phone would not have h...

Re: Are you ready for the nasty winter of history. 2018?

airplane style and see if I can cut it so the wheel can still rotate and stick through the bottom of the ski. Then I can drive on the snowy side roads and the plowed main roads. This idea I like, perhaps the wheel about 4" below the ski, which would go around both sides of the wheel and connect the...

During today's ride during a UDF moment I was asked....

Could be worse. Many mistake the sidecar machine gun mount as a flag mount.

Re: Battery Tongs

If the battery is ever removed, leave a ribbon or something low clearance but strong enough to lift it tied around it to act as a handle the next time? Use bright colors and tie it with a bow, Harley's like sparkly farkles. On a Ural, a plain black zip tie would work. My replacement battery is small...

Re: I m not sure if this forum is ready for this?

I have little trouble with backing trailers on cars or my pickup, but the off center Ural hitch (along sidecar frame) just messes me up, so I generally just pick up the back of the trailer and scoot it over.

In any case, just set out some cones, or a wavy chalk line, with a stopwatch handy.
