Re: Four reasons not to care about the super bowl

I don't like any professional or collage sports, and my income is above the national average for someone with a bachelors degree, so I'm not emotionally invested in this, just amused by it. I have never cared for any professional sport or followed a team, referring to them as holding business meeti...

Re: Four reasons not to care about the super bowl

For years, at work I have been pointing out that our "biggest sports guys" are our biggest guys. They watch, not play. A while back a couple of the guys who like to argue sports challenged each other to a foot race across the parking lot (flat asphalt). The supervisor tripped and fell, failing to co...

Someone has more free time than he knows what to do with, and a few mad skills.

Can you look at a 100+ year old black and white photo of a long lost bike, and reproduce a working replica? PI-600x448.jpg On the plus side, plenty of pics... of shiny new antique parts. The instructions are included in the link: http://theoldmotor.com/?s=The+North+London+Garage+&&paged=1 p17-1080x6...

Re: Well, ive found the limits of my gear....

The only reason -9F has been my limit so far, is no opportunity to go further. Carhart Arctic Extreme coveralls and a snowmobile helmet worked fine, just didn't have the "look". Knee length sheep lined leather late 70's NOS Soviet officer's coat modified with leg straps to stop flapping, and clips e...

Re: Which direction to mount pedestrian slicer/fender license

Form follows function, the slanted or serrated edge goes first, obviously, otherwise it would be called a pedestrian hacker.

Re: Perils of a Raceway Hand Shifter

I re-purposed the kill switch to be the "under load" switch for my Power Arc ignition. I had found that I never really used it on purpose, but did hit it by accident a couple times with gloves after moving my hand off the grips. Then it wouldn't start, and because I had not flipped the switch on pur...

tyM7L8g.jpg Down to 5F now, will cross into the low negatives in CT tomorrow, be there frequently for another couple months. I no longer have to rush home because I bought ice cream. Bike takes a few tries to start, then needs a bit of throttle for a minute to not stall. Tried to explain to a co-wo...

Re: heated gloves???

Search a bit, this topic has come up before, and the answers don't change much. Consider something to block the wind off your hands, wind chill is a thing when winter riding. Heated grips, the way I went, eliminate the battery or connection issues. Heated gloves are pricey, less likely to have a spa...

Re: Feasibility of all weather riding PNW

Rust, easiest way to deal with it is to have a military paint scheme, then it just looks more "authentic". Something mostly shiny and chromy will look like it want's attention.

Re: This place is weird.

Since 2011, have received plenty of advice, often surprisingly on point. A couple times, dealers who seem to lurk, have chimed in with free advice for someone who bought on the other end of the country. When something is in doubt, don't be shy on the pics to explain your question, some of these guys...

Re: OK so this sucks..................

I just would like to know.... Is the BLUE one really faster? These bikes were about tied for last place, I could probably hop on one foot faster than these things running flat out. Perhaps the blue was faster, however wisdom prevailed, and I did not race. With that yellow one in front I was just en...

PS: at Dave. ........... Need somebody to keep me on the straight and narrow. Yet somehow I was thinking Dave's guidance would lead you into more trouble. :decision: Our first snow came a couple days ago for CT. This pic is a year old, but all the same gear and conditions apply. With that knee leng...

P1090842_zpskemqtsdj.JPG Those are possibly the weirdest vehicles I've ever seen :o - It is about the simplest, fail-safe "sub" you could build, perfect for only needing several minutes to explain to tourists. Depth; those ropes going up tether the sub to a large balloon on the surface. Adjust the ...
