Re: Shopping for tents, Ural weight limits?

Re: Gas cans

I have a Rotopax GasFlask mounted in the trunk, it takes up virtually no usable room. IMG_2936.JPG Anything that easy probably counts as cheating. I never felt the "practical" rotopax had "the look", but if you can't even see it, it looks fine. Still using the stock "not for any known purpose" can ...

Re: Footman Loop Strap

Have added them to my trailer to strap loads onto it a few years back. Most face down from bottom of frame around the edge, so they don't stick out any, or interfere with flat deck of trailer. In the rear do have a couple facing up, so no straps would cross the plate or lights. Remember that the bol...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Turned the odometer past 30,000 km. At work, one guy was complaining about the latest cold snap, claiming it wasn't bike season yet. Another quickly pointed out I rode in tonight. The first then argued it doesn't really count because I ride less in summer (not really true, it just doesn't get notice...

Re: Why did you pick a Ural to ride ?

Idly browsing craigslist told me they existed. Online research told me sovietsteeds was a major resource for keeping them running, or dressing them up a bit. I like that uniqueness, even around a car or a motorcycle show, there is always someone to say it belongs inside. Today someone in a utility b...

Re: trailer hitch DIY vs. Already made

Made mine of Ipe (ironwood, very dense, strong, rot resistant) left over from a deck project. Cut the with and length of the sidecar frame along the bike side, double 1" glued and screwed, held on to the frame pipe with U-bolts, and 2 mated pieces of custom bent square U channel (on the bottom sides...

Re: Ballast

It is generally safer not to mention to the monkey that she is being used for ballast.

Certainly feel the load in clutch use and rate of acceleration, however can't say I even noticed the motor sputtering under load.

Re: "Connecticut Indoor Motorcycle Show" Feb 17-18

Sounds like a good idea, will be riding if not wet. I work both days only 20 miles away from this, but leave at noon Sat and 8am Sun (3rd shift). Do you guys have a preference for day or time?

If you don't have a snowblower, by the end of shoveling the driveway you might as well be plowed.
