Re: Overheating on rides that were fine in other years

I ordered a new IR thermometer, so better information in a few days. Did clean air filter, however if it clogged, would expect less air, so running rich, not lean. Also, I understand that these carburetors do not add gas with the throttle, they admit more air, and that air pulls in more gas. This wo...

Re: Overheating on rides that were fine in other years

My IR thermometer had died when I tried to look when this trouble first appeared. I suspected dead batteries, obtained the button cells, nothing, so went in trash, need a new one. Will take a few days. Dug out my timing light, hasn't seen the light of day since the later 80's. Rained yesterday, I do...

Re: Overheating on rides that were fine in other years

Still overheating. 80F on way to work, only a couple miles away felt the change, turned on fans and made it. Put petcock on Prime for ride home to see if vacuum not opening it enough, but wasn't a good test day. Slow to almost stop on he Hwy, couple cars had crumpled the chrome, one in between the e...

Re: Overheating on rides that were fine in other years

Hope you are using 91+ octane as specified. High octain, generally 93, sometimes 91 if that is the highest choice. Today tried draining tank, checking filter. It looked good, which is bad, because seeing a lot of trash would mean an easy fix. The riser pipe for normal had trash on it, and some fili...

Re: Is there a dye or paint to change tire colors and stay on?

Saw similar paint pens prior to posting, They are intended to make the lettering on a tire stand out, not paint the whole tire. Mostly they were in White, with some in yellow or red. Besides having very little paint in each marker, they were intended to be re-applied frequently. The heat and flex of...

Is there a dye or paint to change tire colors and stay on?

Not for the Ural, and not referring to just making the lettering on a tire stand out. My wife's bicycle is a purplish pink, and the tires are worn enough to put new ones on for next year. She likes colors, so a red or pick or purple set of tires would be appreciated. I know some companies sell color...

Overheating on rides that were fine in other years

30K+ K on my 2011 that has had 12v bilge blowers mounted behind the knee guards to blow directly onto the jugs. My ride to work includes 15 miles of highway at 60mph or so, and sometimes a wait of 2 or 3 lights just to get off my exit on the way home. I realize that highway warms it up, and sitting ...

Helpful videos with guidance for loading bikes into the back of pickups. Mostly guidance on what NOT to do unless you want to end up on a collection of OOOUGH THAT's GOING TO HURT! BONUS: the method that looks the craziest is actually the one that really works! https://rideapart.com/articles/pickup-...

Re: Towing a trailer with a Ural

DSC06700_s.jpg About this much works (48 lbs trailer, perhaps approaching 200 lbs of luggage). With the trailer hitch off center along the between the bike and sidecar frame rail, good luck on backing it. I would just cheat, getting off and lifting the back of the trailer to shift it over. FB_IMG_1532462467056.jpg Switching but not to Geico. Gonna be playing for the other team to get that big discount. Already contacted my insurance agent's office. Not clear just how far I got to go to "prove" I qualify for the discount. https://calgarysun.com/news/canada/alberta-man-legally-...
