Re: Ural and 91 octane

This from my 2004 Jeep Wrangler owner's manual: "Your engine is designed … for high quality … gasoline having an octane rating of 87. The use of premium gasoline will provide no benefit over quality regular gasoline, and IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES MAY RESULT IN POORER PERFORMANCE. (caps supplied) Light s...

Re: Ural and 91 octane

a buddy of mine and I rode 2002 and 2003 Harley Dressers to Alaska in 2005. Both EFI, both ran just fine with that near kerosene that is sold on the Alcan. Your HD will run just fine on 87 octane. Thanks for the info. My dealer suggested carrying some octane-boost but I trust your experience more t...

Re: Ural and 91 octane

My GM car calls for "premium" but says 87 is Ok if you're willing to let a few horses out of the stable … the computer compensates. I've run 87 with no ill effects and I can't tell any loss in HP but I'm sure there is a bit of loss. I think all modern cars adjust timing to match the octane. My EFI H...

Re: Ural and 91 octane

I can't tell any difference in 87, 89 or 91 … no dangerous noises coming from the engine and no difference in MPG. YMMV.

Sometimes on the Alaska Highway all u can find is 87 or diesel.

There's a station nearby that sells non-ethanol 90 octane at a premium price which I sometimes use.

Re: 2014 Models on imz-ural.com

I want one! I don't understand the wheel interchangeability but I guess I'll get it explained at the Open House. EFI is the answer to prayer for many Uralists. I bet $10 that the EFI will not suffer from any significant Year One problems. I like the shiny red Patrol. http://i145.photobucket.com/albu...

I'd get a 2014 model, for sure. The 2014's are a watershed model and well worth the extra $$$, IMHO.

These are what I put on our Jeeps, the wife winds them around a wreath. They use a 12V cigarette lighter connection.

Belt Drive is on my wish list

I'm happy to see FI and disc brakes at all 3 wheels on the 2014 models, but I wonder if the gurus at Ural have ever thought of deleting the final drive as we know it and converting to belt drive? I'm sure the cost of re-engineering the bike would be the deciding factor. Belts are lighter, less maint...
