Re: Trip planning from CA to NY

Did a very similar trip in 2011...albeit the other way.

I am interested in your parts offering.....as I am sure many other Canucks would be. Offer them at reasonable prices and people will buy.

Re: Air Filter Box

It has been noted that adding any valve after the stock valve on the cam drive is bad bananas. Plus, my set up was free except for the filter. So, $14? Yeah, I'm happy. Not to mention the multiple giggles for the temporary denim "filter." BTW, from my experience on the other bike and small volume c...

Re: Touring - What's a Loooong day in the saddle?

I think many here need to clarify miles versus time....especially important on a Ural :D . 700-900mi on a two wheeler is gravy, IMHO, versus the same distance on a Ural. 800mi on a Ural could very well mean 13-16 hours continuous hours in the saddle, and if you are riding curvy roads versus intersta...

Re: Air Filter Box

I'm done cleaning out the airbox. It has been a mess. Thankfully, nothing but mist has made it to the carbs though. The branch tubes have stayed clean and the oil pool was only in the airbox. That said, it made swapping the elements an unnecessarily messy affair. I'm not sure what causes this much ...

Do most of you down south....well, South of me :) ....carry fleet insurance, or is each bike insured separately (assuming all are insured at one time)?

Re: Air Filter Box

I am not sure I understand the need to filter crankcase blowby. Catch it and drain it or let it run out a long tube.

Filtering it doesn't make much sense to me, not to mention adding an unnecessary maintenance procedure.

Re: Riding in the Snow/Rain?

I gave up riding in the winter in 2008...and I can sympathize with the temps you face....most here cannot. 8) The stock airbox will continue to be a problem for you, especially in the wet, sticky snow. If replacing the airbox is too pricey right now, I highly recommend a product called Frogzskin. T...
