Re: Snow Blowers

Yup ... three stage. Nothing short of nuclear winter's gonna slow one of those down. I hear Chang Jiang builds the PowerMore motors for the Cub Cadets ... pass it on ... <G> Kidding aside, no beefs on the power train. Been trouble free for three seasons now, and starts first crank every time, assUm...

Re: Snow Blowers

For the last forty years, I’ve used the Toro Snow Thrower ilk. Ok in dry snow, barely. Absolutely worthless in the typical heavy wet crap we get here. The PO of our new place left behind an el cheapo MTD 24” Yardman. Doesn’t look like it had ever been used but the fuel system was so crudded up I co...

Re: Snow Blowers

Overall the tracked was the best for us but all neighbor that have them have the wheeled. I had chains on the Toro and it did well other than grass. My wife's Uncle got an Walmart 10 hp, helpless as the rubber drive slipped all the time and nothing would get it to grip. My brother had a monster call...

They don't use that up here or much. I am keeping eye out and if I see it will forgo until cleared off.

Re: Snow Blowers

The wheeled do get down to the driveway cleaner for sure. Looks like a bit over 20 inches and I love it when it does that. Oddly it does not take a lot more time to clean up 18" than 5". At 22+ then the overflow slough off to the side so I have to go back and blow that windrow off. 30+ inches and I ...

Re: Snow Blowers

My brothers have Honda's and love them. Younger one who took care of the back yard when I had my disk surgery said the Yamaha maneuvered better (thought that is maybe mute on the new machines) Due to the access situation, I needed the 24 inch though 28 would have worked nicely for most of it (compro...

Re: How many ride all year round? (Particularly in snowy climates)

2WD provides peace of mind, and it can certainly help out in a few tough spots. A rider who makes intelligent choices and has good tires on his rig can easily get by with 1WD. Fairings and/or windshields are a personal preference. I don't use them, but I know other riders who do and who recommend t...

Snow Blowers

We have a Yamaha YT634 that has been bullet proof for 20+ years. Blower Back Box Garden.jpg We had a Toro when we moved into our house in 98, poor thing was 25 years old and falling apart, literally was stop drilling and back plating the whole body each time it snowed and it could barely get snow 2 ...

Re: Hack gears?

No gears but there is a bearing.

If its sealed no, the 450 Honda we were given had sealed bearings and I priced a seal off to see how good the grease was.

Like the way they put it in. Getting them in water changes that as water (muddy water) can get through the seal.

Re: 2019 Fuel Injection Hiccups Cold

Sorry to hear its acting up.

I think your area runs Ethanol or Methanol all year round so intake icing does not sound likely.

Last two outings in the mid teens and low twenties and a good 5 minute warm up and ran good.

Re: 3 Winch Battle: Maasdam, Warn Drill, HF ATV!!!

People ask me all the time but I tell them its only 1 WD not the two you are thinking of and I have a surgically repaired disk. Doc says take care of it and you are ok, don't and a wheel chair, ergh. So, longing or not its, oh no. Don't go there, get the cT and ensure not! Places up here not in grou...

Re: How many ride all year round? (Particularly in snowy climates)

I agree on the studs, not worth it for the relatively few snow days in Seattle type place (very familiar with the area, gateway to AK, been through there 20 times maybe, my mom live up in Bellingham now). Mine is just for enjoying the machine as I no long work (not retired, I just quit though setup ...

Re: 2019 Fuel Injection Hiccups Cold

Interesting, never heard of turning propeller backwards, forwards yes. I think it was a radial engien thing to clear the oil build up (or ensure it was not a hydro condition) Carb ice (is/was) an interesting phenomena. The carbs drop the temp and at some point ice is formed. Bu the engine heat plays...
