Sidecar Asylum - The Sequel

Last year, in three days from idea to happening, Fly and friends put on a mini-rally that brought nine rigs, one solo and a 32 deuce coupe to his house for an evening of fun and food. We're doing it again this year; a little larger and with a little better :P planning. Here is the notice Fly posted ...

Re: Another sucker is born!

If you don't have a specific use for 2WD, don't bother. Just that much more to maintain while you seldom, if ever, use it. Other than that, a Ural opens a whole new world and you're gonna love it!

Re: How many Urals are in your town?

As stated earlier, "within 30 minutes on a Ural", I can think of eight including mine. Four are "family affairs": Two are owned by a husband and wife and another two are owned by mother and daughter.

Re: Which is more historically correct ???

Leather would certainly look better than metal. In either case, though, they are best left empty as weight at the front of the car is the last place you want it. Back in 1943, they were going 20 mph on dirt roads, not 55 on pavement. Weight distribution is MUCH more important today.

He is good but nowhere as cute as the "pinstripe lady" in Irbit in the old CSMI days!

Re: Animal Conspiracy

Interesting sidelight to my case. Two ambulances responded. The crew that got there first took care of me. The second crew had nothing to do so one of them said he was going to go check out the deer. Now I am still in the middle of the road blocking traffic while they truss me up with a collar, etc....

Odometer dead nuts on.

Speedometer 50 mph actual - 85 mph indicated!

Figure that one!

Re: Side cars

Fact is, there are three different frames: 2WD, 1WD and Retro. The Retro frame is much lower than the other two. As stated, all use the identical tub.

Re: Animal Conspiracy

In my case, when the dear hit me the "ejection seat worked fine but the parachute never opened". Did a pretty pirouette and hit the ground hard. Broken right shoulder, collapsed lung, broken ribs. Deer can suck.
