Re: Pedal Power - Bikes, lets see them!

I got out on my 53 year old Raleigh Superbe this week before the weather turned April-ish. First time in almost a year and I could tell. Just a heads up if you have an old Raleigh three speed. Dump the standard 18t cog for a 20t and lace Sun CR18 rims in the 26x1 3/8 EA3 size in place of the steel h...

Not done yet, actually not even started on. I bought an 8.5' kayak and trying to figure a way to carry it on the sidecar without too much brain damage.

Re: Retirement

Congrats. I have six months to go. And I have plans not to sit on my backside.

My Dad has been retired longer than he worked. I think he's the senior Chrysler retiree. He's in his eighties now and still volunteers.

My younger brother and sister are both retired and say every day is a Saturday.

Re: Covd Vaccine Shot One Done

I gave up dealing with the county and state and got my first dose of Moderna at the local Walgreens on the 22nd. Didn’t have to BS about my age because I hit 65 on the 21st. I felt a tad queasy for about 30 seconds later in the afternoon but that could have been attributed to being in a closed car w...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Went fishing and only got cold cold hands. Stopped for a cuppa at the local coffee shop and sat outside enjoying the sunshine. Had a couple tell me they'd seen my rig around town. Told them that few people in town know me but everybody knows my bike. Rode to Walgreens to get my meds and rode home.

Re: Today's Safety Briefing (3/21/21)

I have the SuperBright LED brakelight flasher on my CX500. It flashes three times before going solid. With the obnoxiously bright LED brake lights and the red LED strip on the trunk tied into the brake light circuit, it gets seen. Still doesn't help with the oblivious behind me, but doing what I can...

Prepped the ride for spring which is just tossing the sidecar tonneau in the trunk and putting the sidecar windshield on.

Put air in the tires today. Nothing special there, but for the first time ever, all three of the valves were straight up at the floor.

Errand to get new spark plugs for the Wrangler. Supposedly those need to be changed every 30,000 miles, not 45,000. Four miles to get to NAPA, 25 miles to get back home.

Re: Fiat 124 Spider. Dammit, I said yes.

I am probably all too aware of the history of that Ranchero. Dad owned it for years before he ever put a wrench to it. It sat in a shed until he retired. He trailered it to N. Wisconsin when Mom retired and they moved to the woods. He did some work on it there then trailered it to their next new pla...

Re: Fiat 124 Spider. Dammit, I said yes.

The 68 Ranchero was based on the Ford Fairlane/Mercury Comet of that era, not the full sized Galaxie, so it's not a hulk but bigger than the previous generation based on the Ford Falcon. Which I learned to drive in. That's Dads' Ranchero behind the snowmobile. He sold the snowmobile last week. https...

Re: Fiat 124 Spider. Dammit, I said yes.

Talking to the spousal unit today and I suggested maybe we do a first gen Miata. Showed her the above pics and I get "Umm, well, it is a two seater and I think it would be a fun retirement vehicle but I think I'd like another MG Midget." We had a grey and rust 64 with a red interior and white wires ...
