Re: What are/is your Winter Project(s)?

I am working on putting this diesel engine, into this. Mike, that has been a dream project since I was in college 10 years ago. If you have a build thread or some youtube vids, I'd like to watch the progress. If you were closer I'd offer to swing by on the weekends! No build thread on SS but I have...

Re: What are/is your Winter Project(s)?

Nothing with the Ural, other than basic maintenance. I am working on putting this diesel engine, https://live.staticflickr.com/8765/28553926082_67b67e7b53_z.jpg into this. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50446850093_c53e77fb91_z.jpg It's something to do. Retirement is less than ten months away. ...

Re: So, how many miles you go in 2020?

Just about 2000 miles on the Ural. That was a low year. Maybe about 150 miles on the CX. 25 miles between the two Solexes Maybe 50 miles on bicycles. Another low year. A low year for flying, too. Only 29,000 miles, usually it's around 65-70,000 miles. To make up for it, though, I put 30,280 miles on...

In case you don't know, Mercurochrome is a mercury-containing compound used as an antibacterial antiseptic.

65 years ago Mom used to swab our throats with it (internally) with a long cotton swab as a sore throat remedy. Guess that explains some of my behavior?
You too? :o

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Took the youngest grandson on a very short ride at 22F this afternoon. He's four years old and it was his choice. He was very bundled up and had a big grin but his face got cold. Maybe two miles. Now, he's napping against me. I may join him.

Re: Funny or WTF photo thread

Way back when, I was learning to drive in my Dads' 62 Falcon Ranchero. I turned left without signalling and Dad chided me on it. Whether I was being brave, or stupid, I called him out about his never signalling that same left turn. He remained silent, but the Marine Corp Sgt vein was bulging in his ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

This is it, though my kid got it for me through Amazon. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32955192334.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.43.22105dccHzSKx4 This is an updated version from my previous unit. I originally picked this model because it is set up to use both a back button or a remote button as a...

New GPS speedometer with a backlight I can actually see in sunlight. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50762467158_1ec56859d2_z.jpg Similar model to what I had but I just couldn't get the backlight to work. I needed something to do to relieve work stress
so I got a Ural?

I needed to relive work stress as well, so I worked 5 months to pay for a Ural and then I quit!
Some of that work stress came from up your way via the Alaskan Railroad.
