Re: 2012 Ural Tourist

The seller's rig runs fine. It was very well maintained according to him and it has seen very little use. In fact I am in the same position as the seller. I ride during the summer months when the weather is nice. I go out on my motorcycles only to get some fresh air and recharge my batteries. This i...

Re: 2012 Ural Tourist

I talked to the owner who is a really nice guy. He said that he used it to have fun with his family. He never took it out for more than 50 miles round trip. He bought it new in 2013 from a local dealer. It is standard black Ural Tourist. It has some extras like windscreen and engine mud guards as we...

2012 Ural Tourist

Howdy all? I have been inactive in this forum for a while now. I owned a 2004 Ural Tourist that I ended up selling for personal reasons. Recently I found a 2012 Ural Tourist with under 5000 miles on the clock. The price the owner is asking is $5000. Is this a good deal for such low miles Ural? The s...

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

I already contacted Jay from DMC. He is the one that suggested I find someone with a press to add the triple trees. I have a small independent bike mechanic near my home I will check with this weekend. It should be fun to have a heavy rig that is easy to turn.

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

Thanks a lot. Like I had previously said, I planned on selling the Ural, however I have decided that it has a place in my garage. So it is not going anywhere. I have contacted DMC, the makers of my sidecar, and they suggested adding a triple tree that would make turning almost feel like assisted ste...

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

Mouka, the Rocket feels twice as heavy as the Ural because it is. According to IMZ website specifications: 730 pounds for the Gear Up, CT comes in at 700. Great price by the way, Andy I know that the price was a steal. I think I have mistaken the GVWR for the actual weight of the rig. I thought tha...

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

On the other hand, 26 - 30 mpg isn't bad at all for a Ural rig. But you sure gotta remember to roll back into downhill parking spots. Wonder what the total wet weight of the outfit is. . . (or did you say and I didn't notice). The Triumph wet weight is around 700 lbs. The sidecar is mostly carbon a...

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

Here are some pictures I took yesterday of my Triumph Rocket 3 rig and my Ural. I thought about putting the Ural for sale and decided that I would rather keep both of them. When I am by myself, the Ural is my ride. When the wife or kids want a ride, it is the Triumph rig. Life is good! Here are some...

Re: It's not a motorcycle

I have no idea what my new rig is. It is based on a Triumph Rocket 3 bike. The sidecar was made in the USA by DMC. They are sidecar and trike builders based in Washington state. I can go 100 mph easy on this rig, yet I have not sold my Ural that shakes like crazy and suffers from all sorts of issues...

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

The sidecar is actually American-made. The builder of the sidecar lives in the Seattle area. His company's name is DMC. This particular sidecar was added in 2011. It has an electric control for the pitch of the sidecar. So you can adjust the sidecar while riding and try to find the sweet spot that m...

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

I was wondering if a leading front link could improve this rig.
Anybody cares to tell me if there are any major differences between Urals with leading front link and the Retro that uses standard forks?

Re: My New MONSTER Rig

I know that I got one heck of a good deal. The owner is moving from the Chicago area to Arizona. He owns a 6200 acres ranch. He has over 700 cattle heads and around 150 horses. He is a pretty wealthy guy that made a lot of money building homes all over the area. He is retiring and has 4 employees wo...

My New MONSTER Rig

Howdy all? Some of you might remember my extra long thread when I was bringing back a 2003 Tourist back to life. I got hooked on sidecars so much that I started looking for rigs that would be able to go at highway speeds. Well did my prayers get answered. I will be the proud owner of the largest pro...
