Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Chad, just tried to move it back a little and enforcing to stop springing reactions. Finding my butt sitting on the rear edge of tractor seat usually. Never had or expected tractor seats with exception when had my first experience with Dnepr and Ural when I was 13-18 years old in former USSR :D All ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Ok Chad, a few pix below. New holes made and the seat moved back by about 1.5 inch was still soft and would hit rear fender with a single block. I had to squeeze in second block. Rear mounting screws are installed in newly drilled holes. (More than a decade ago I had a delux solo seat on 1999 Ural D...

Re: New Owner just bought a 2018 Gear Up

Read what mr. Wazzock and others said. Constant speed, no accelerating, etc. Also, if there is no sidewind, etc. should track pretty much straight.
One more thing...if drivers torso is wandering on mushy tractor saddle, that only can as well affect bike's handling. :D

Re: New 2018 Ural Gear Up Owner (Engine Heat Question)

While I haven't used any aftermarket temp gauges to monitor cylinder heat, I had 650 cc Ural and then a Ural with an airhead BMW R80 and R100 engines participating in slow going/stopping parades. I also had the same bike running LA Marathon as a camera rig for three years and had no overheating issu...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Yesterday I put 175 km. group ride on 07 GearUp after Red-Kot'ing gas tank a week before. Today removed tractor seat, made two additional holes in underseat plate and moved the seat back about 1.5 inches. Removed passenger tractor seat, got the rubber block amortizator out and installed that rubber ...

Re: Warning, Will Robinsonski

It is "most likely" (modern US gov. statement terminology) :D like modern cars. I had to swap a battery for first time in Toyota Camry...when installed a new battery and drove away from COSTCO parking lot it was shaking a bit and took some learning before the sensors/emission/computer behavior settl...

Is anybody using this solo seat - Le Pera?

This solo seat looks like the one came installed on my 1999 Deco Classic. I was wondering if any of you have or had it on your Ural. Le Pera L-105: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Le-Pera-L-105-Spring-Mounted-Solo-Seat-Black-Wide-Riders-Seat/123969095897?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438...

Re: Motorcycles USSR

That orange Cezet and red JAWA were cool bikes before 1980's. Motorollers like Tula, Vyatka were probably fun. I never had a chance to ride one.

Re: Notice from Rich's Cycle Upholstery!

Rich, sorry to hear about your health issues. I got to know you since 2003 only via the IMZ tech webboard and saw your projects and rally pictures posted there and probably on this forum. I Know one thing about your hand crafted seats for sure: "Your as will thank you!" I hope your doctor will help ...

Re: 4 way flashers on Ural - Does anyone use them when vehicle is parked/ key off?

I ride year round, park in Downtown Denver. It is not uncommon for me to shake homeless off the bike. I have had my switches all messed with many times. Special ordered my 2018 without that sidecar LED thing, doesn't work for my needs, but would have had to run that through a relay. To each their o...

Re: 4 way flashers on Ural - Does anyone use them when vehicle is parked/ key off?

Older Urals use to have a master power switch made of metal as well under the seat. :D

Re: 4 way flashers on Ural - Does anyone use them when vehicle is parked/ key off?

You can install your first secret switch (#1) in some hidden place and feed/power your operating switch (#2), which will then flash your lights.
