Re: Funny or WTF photo thread

Congrats on your retirement.
Thank you. TECHNICALLY, it's next June, but once the decision was made, there was/is a lot of administrative processes to complete.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

TCF, was the detonation you experienced the usual rattling/pinging you hear in a car? would think the normal Ural engine sounds could muffle the detonation sound. Don't know. Believe it or not, I've never heard detonation before this incident, which definitely contributed to the problem. My "spark ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

The 87 octane I USED to run in the Mobile Chernobyl definitely caused detonation under load. Whether this weakened the piston rings or had any connection at all, I don't know, but I won't run low-octane fuel in the ' Chernobyl any more. The cylinder looked fine, except for a little lump of "slag" ( ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Early on in my Ural ownership, I was running 87 of fuel. I developed a sound in the engine, like a metal BB bouncing around in there, particularly under load. I had never heard detonation before, so I didn't know that's what it was. I started getting a lot of oil on my air filter, so I rerouted my b...

Perhaps, at some point in your ownership of this bike, you'll get her autograph or a photoshoot or something.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

The bucket to catch bottle caps is so forward thinking and green! That mod alone increased the polar ice caps and saved a big chunk of the Amazon rainforest. Yes, the rainforest. THAT's what I had in mind when I installed the cap-catchin' pail. You must have invested in accessories at least ...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

do you find the springs in the snowmen makes a real difference? Yes, especially when you have as much crap bolted on to your hack, as I do. I'll tell you when I REALLY saw a difference: on the way to and from the Jersey Devil Hunt, when I had both my Mobile Chernobyl and TeeDub 's non-helper-spring...
