Re: moving the seat, adding toolkit

6'2", 35" inseam, bad knees here. My solution was to drill two more holes further back on the existing 'A' plate, then gain additional legroom by moving the tractor saddle vertically with two sets of hockey pucks inserted between the saddle base and the 'A' plate. It has worked quite well for me. 20...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

I would replace the main bearings and the cam bearing
Ugh. I was hoping that this would be a somewhat quick turnaround, but you make a valid point.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Good fortune: I had two brand new 650 clutch friction discs and one intermediate disc in my parts hoard. 2020-03-29 13.19.52.jpg While I had the flywheel out ( plus my 99's flywheel to compare wear ), I decided to sand the outer edge and paint them to make the timing marks easier to find. 2020-03-29...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

? How many miles on that clutch Chad ? .
25K, plus or minus due to odometer error. I don't know if this is good or bad for a 2001 clutch from a 650 Ural. I'm leaning towards "below average", but I don't have enough data to make a conclusive assessment.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Penetrating oil, heat and impact. Failing that, drill them out. Not fun but have done a number of those successfully. Funny you mention that because, after cutting the peens with a Dremel tool, soaking the screws with PB Blaster, and applying more heat, I broke an impact tip, then decided to just p...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Extracting 20-year seated clutch screws is proving to be quite the endeavor. I've been attempting to de-peen them and have tried both an impact driver and heat to get them to move, but they don't seem to want to budge. I'm open to suggestions. 2020-03-28 16.15.57.jpg Regarding the motor mounting stu...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

If you find a pinon sometime the bearing journal diameter and the distance of the journal to the teeth might be helpful. Will do, Jeff. But before doing that, I pulled the Bear 's engine to address the leaks. 2020-03-28 14.25.38.jpg 2020-03-28 14.27.00.jpg 2020-03-28 14.28.12.jpg 2020-03-28 14.28.3...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

While you have your final drive apart would you please take a measurement of the ring gear diameter and share it? My pleasure. The standard 37-tooth ring gear for the 4.62:1 ratio gearset is 145mm in diameter, with 20mm wide teeth. If you need any other measurements, just ask. 2020-03-28 09.01.48.j...

Shouldn’t the stated mileage be in KMS?
Not in the U.S.

Kilometers only confuse the average Murrican.
