Re: Vacuum petcock repair < $30

I switched to a manual petcock two and a half years ago. Cost me all of $5.89 to do it....but I had to wait three weeks for it to arrive from Mainland China. No issues with it so far....maybe that's because I have a spare (couldn't resist buying two at such a reasonable price). Forget the vacuum ope...

Re: Final Drive Gear Oil Volume Discrepancy 2007-2008

There are other threads on this topic, one of which I taught me that running a bit less than stated in the manual, might be a good idea. My one wheel drive, is much happier, and cleaner, with 90 ml in the final drive, rather than the recommended 105 ml. You can get a plastic syringe in a 100 ml or s...

I've had mine up to 55 two times in the 4 years I've owned it.

You might try http://scooterdoc.proboards.com. One of the forum administrators has a Stella, and decades of experience with all types of two wheelers. Goes by the screen name...cyborg. He's a WNY Native, but lives on the West Coast now....I'm sure he'd be glad to help.

Re: Worst mileage ever

17.4 mpg...."ouch". Highway or Super Slab speeds are not a Ural's forte, but that kind of fuel mileage indicates more than high speed operation. Something else is amiss.

Re: Newbie question on 2005 Ural Retro

Anything that has set around unused for 14 to 15 years, will certainly need some attention.....are you handy with a wrench? As stated above, the alternator issue doesn't apply to this model year, but you will probably have some rubber parts to replace... tires, seals, etc. Probably want to take a lo...

Re: Fuel burn: 2005 with 20k vs 2013 with 3k?

In the 4 years I've owned my Ural, the reserve position has been used 1 time.....and it took 288 km of driving on that tank, before the switch was needed. A couple of miles down the road I stopped and filled it up....292.3 km, 4.399 gallons, making my reserve quantity right at .6 gallons. I don't ge...

Re: More on gas milage ......

If you really want to know your fuel use statistics...try using Fuelly dot com. I have logged every fuel stop/fill-up, from my rigs first, on Oct 1, 2015 - to it's last, just 6 days ago. Boris has never burned a drop of E10...always ethanol free, 90 or 91 octane. 50 consecutive fuel stops, 12,263 km...

Re: Top speed

Not going to tell you that the 135 main is the way to go......but with a K&N filter in the original air box, and missing cats, a 40 pilot, and 135 main works very well for me. I'm not a fast driver, but live in hilly country, and the normal running weight is right around 1,150 pounds. Original jets ...

Have you checked your speedo for accuracy? If not, think I'd start there. Very easy to do if you have a cell phone.

Re: Brake lights screwy

Have you by any chance put LED bulbs in that light housing? For some reason the light on the bike's rear fender is wired backward....don't ask me why, but positive and negative are reversed, causing the current to flow through the bulb socket in the wrong direction. Some LED's won't put up with this...
