Re: A new hobby
Nice jobs I need to make one of those battery holders. We bought a set of the Six Star Cutlery maybe 25 years ago ( think Ronco ) came with two sets for the price of one with knife block. We have never even opened the second set the knives have been excellent. My more expensive knives that are used ...

Re: Another bike for me, bike for wife?
Oh and lowering links or ( dog bones) are not a difficult install on the DR650. They come in different lengths to drop it to what you need there are also adjustable versions. As you go down you will need to slide the forks up in the triple tree for best geometry.

Re: Another bike for me, bike for wife?
I think the DR 650 is a great choice if you are riding Fire service roads and camping your wife may like a Yamaha TW 200 or a used XT225. They both have low seat heights the 225 has a little more umph and 6 speed the TW also a great bike goes anywhere. My TW runs 72mph-ish fairly easy but seems very...

Re: BMW GS question
For some the off road aspect is riding hundreds of miles then taking dirt roads and fire service roads or just see what's down there, can be done on a 250 but..... I have a TW200 that is the best off road and trail bike I have owned' not as fast as many MX bikes but goes anywhere reliably and relati...

Re: BMW GS question
Some will eventually have problems others will have a much higher probability of problems. As the OP is looking at BMW GS I would put it in a higher probability rating although there are quite a few GSs with different designs and engines I think he is in the 1150 1200 realm. The 1150GS older, less e...

Re: SHOW us your hand grips, heated or otherwise
I use the Grip Buddies well actually Chinese knock offs the foam type. I have some damage to my right hand doesn't close as well as the left add to that some arthritis and age and the foam oversize works better for me. One of the first mods I usually do. they will work over heated grips I have them ...

Re: BMW GS question
I had a 2000 1150GS fairly easy to work on things such as valve adjustments, oil changes and the like. I replaced the transmission at 60,000 miles the input shaft bearing let loose a known problem but not very common. I rebuilt the slave cylinder on the clutch as it was starting to seep a common pro...

Re: Who is going to Sturgis?
Or should I say HOW to go to Sturgis? So, let's pretend my wife and I are insane enough to ride to Sturgis (Rally starts August 2nd in 2019). Who else is going? I'm really thinking since we will be within 600 miles of it on our current trip plan, we should at least "ride through" to say we been the...

Yep! Site 16, that I discovered is right near the fish cleaning area. I can pick the sites...Since it is Florence Marina State Park, bringing the boat? :foilhead: Hedging on which bike, might be on Retro or Sportsman, both running too well, making choice hard. Definitely not on the M70, it's in a b...
