Great experience with a rig that is truly unique. A great way bike to end my riding days. Sold to a good young couple that I ...

Re: For Sale 2012 Patrol

Location of the Ural? Although not spelled correctly in his avatar, it looks like Glide, Oregon. Being a longtime resident of Oregon then transferring to New York I understand Steve using "Orygun", folks there called it Ore gone . I even had a tee-shirt made that said OR-Y-GUN. Nice looking Ural St...

Re: Not a normal UDF parking lot conversation

Had a Luftmiester (Vetter copy) faring on my BMW R100 in 1980.

Worked great until at about 80 Mph the front end would lift away from the pavement!

Re: Amazon Sells Oil

I buy Brad Penn 20/50 on Amazon. Lots of ZZDP for old style tappet engines.
But I really think these old school engines are fine with any oil that is changed often.

I’d suggest rather than choosing between carbs or efi, going and checking out each bike individually and picking the one that runs better and you like more. Like others have said Urals are a crap shoot and the 15 may be a dud whereas the 12 could be a jewel or vice versa.
What he said!

And there I was thinking of getting a Ural before I couldn't hold my two wheelers up.

Now about your subject line; have you tried an aluminum bat or metal pipe yet?...
Tried both.
I end result was just a bent bat and pipe!

Cannot Beat the Ural!

I am a 73 year old gizzer that has been owning and biking since 1967. Four years ago while making a simple U-turn I dropped my BMW. That was the last straw and decided 2 wheels were no longer an option. I saw a Ural and was hooked. Bought one and have really enjoyed it for the last 3 1/2 years Flash...

Re: $7k 2012 vs $12k 2015

I can only address your question from personal experience. I have a 2012 Patrol with 23000kms. I bought it used with 7200kms 3 1/2 years ago. Paid $7100 I have had ZERO major problems and know I can get at least my purchase price back, if I so desired. Can't beat that. For me, F/I, disc brakes, and ...
