All Floridians are in my thoughts and prayers as the storm rolls in - and for a safe survival of the storm's aftermath. Keep your heads down and your powder dry.

Re: Unique vintage tools
You'll be delighted to know that your radius plane is pretty valuable. I have one of the green German replicas. I sold my original Stanley because I rarely used it. Now even the repro is getting pricey. I gave it to a very good friend of mine this weekend. He has lusted after it for about 30 years....

Re: Kitchen appliances!
The whole "High Efficiency" thing makes me laugh. I had to replace the clothes dryer a couple weeks ago, and I couldn't believe that the manufacturer has the b@lls to label an electric clothes dryer as "High Efficiency". How the hell can you claim that a dead short electric heating coil in one dryer...

Re: Kitchen appliances!
The HE machines look great and have all the 'bells & whistles' but don't do the one thing required of a 'w@$#ing machine'. So very true. If I didn't have a private septic system and soils that contain WAY more clay than I'd like, I'd not own one of those POS HE washers. They are marginal at best at...

Yes, sir - nothing wrong with carrying a .380 mouse gun. With the right ammo, it is plenty capable of mounting an effective "up close and personal" defensive!isldtime wrote:Dwight. I just picked up a Beretta Pico in .380...

Re: Cold War Pistols
I have a CZ-52 that I got a couple years ago that appears to have been unissued - no wear marks of any kind on the internals of it. It is so pretty that I just can't bring myself to fire it. I've fired a bunch of 7.62x25 through my Yugo Tokarev. It is a surprisingly energetic round - but the pistol ...

Re: Cold War Pistols
Some of the cold war era milsurp pistols really do represent a great value, not to mention something out-of-the ordinary to pull out at the range. The CZ-82 is one of my favorite pistols chambered in 9mm Makarov, and the Polish P-64 (also a 9mm Makarov pistol) has a home in my right front pocket mos...

Re: credit card fraud
After I suffered through an identity theft fiasco about 12 years ago, I called one of the credit bureaus and had the fraud alert flag set on my account. Anytime a new account in my name is attempted to be opened that involves a credit check (that's most of them, I believe), the credit bureau calls m...

Re: Harbor Freight Tire Changer?
I've got the HF set up, and it works ok. But, unless you mount the base solidly, I found that it took as long to set everything up as it did to just mount the rim on the spare tire carrier on the tub and use 3 tire irons. The spare tire carrier on the tub holds the rim very securely and it's always ...
