that looks even worse then my final drive where the teeth sent out the oil for to look how is the gravel in the rain forest.
In this case I would try to get a whole new/rebuilt one and swap as is.

Re: Riding with a bad right leg.
How about this fellow? (I was considering it and got surprised by a urgent job offer at covid discount price. So no money in the wallet left for fancy luxury like a 4th bike (2nd Ural rig) in a 3rd country.) https://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=58363 At 20.000km you better dive in...

Calf heating is the way to go.

In any way your father will love the exercise and fresh air.
Sometimes I ask myself, if we ride because our mind is still young, or if it is the bike that keeps our mind open and young.
Best wishes and go for it.

Re: Considering getting a Ural, what am I in for?
Y’all got a dog? If so - that’s who really owns the Ural from this point forward ;) In deed the dogs love rig riding and sticking their nose into the wind. So many new smells :!: So it might happen to the smallest one that the 2 big ones jump right on top of the small one as soon you stop :P Been t...

Re: Portland, OR Ural closing..
Our up North in the middle of nowhere (Delta Junction) repair center is going to be interesting to check in with and get their feedback. On Mickey Sherfield now in Delta Junction I can only give a great double thumbs up   In an eye blink he made it possible for me to return safe...

Hmmm. Dear comrade Keith made that kind of change too and a certain time later he returned to Ural.... be aware, perhaps the screw bug will start to itch you too.
Congratulations.

Re: Fiat 124 Spider. Dammit, I said yes.
A brother in law had one for years and would have it still, if we would not have lived in the land between 2 seas = rust belt. Definitely the fiat spider had been better then my father's Alfa spider in way lower repair bills.

Re: Time to reassemble MG TF
Well a Austin Mini, that threw off its right front wheel gave me the idea to pass over to 3 Wheels back in December 1986. No MG though, but Lukas the eternal Knight of Darkness must have put a spell on my Norton Commando too. So rig pushing and now 2 W800 Kawas as splendid substitute for Norton do i...

In northern Poland deep soft sand is a challenge you find frequently. I am sure the Ural knows only one direction there: DOWN until the end stop

Re: Of all my "Vices"
It has become a "vice" to observe your vice conservation. :sarcasm: The heavy metal principle is equivalent to the engine principle: "You can substitute cubic inch only by more cubic inch." When scraping bedways a sturdy base for to keep things in position has been always a trouble. So the day I wil...

Re: How did you come to riding a Ural?
A logical chain on solo bikes. NSU Supermax, Norton Comando, Kawasaki W800 (2 now) (plus a bunch more bikes from 125 up) on rigs: Austin Mini lost right front wheel.... The inspiring idea! MZ Honneker-taxi, Jawa rig, Ural. 2013 My son just got 18. How far north we can get? Alaska arctic circle. He f...
