Re: WHat would YOU pick?

I am in the process of replacing my recently sold Ural. (yeah, I know...pretty dumb). BUT....my dealer has a new 2018 Gear up and a 2019 CT both for about the same price. Just off the cuff....what would you pick? Do you intend to ride all year long? I recall there is some serious white stuff called...

Re: Mounting Sportster Mufflers

FWIW- Any muffler bolted on a Harley can be made to bolt on something else. It's just nuts and bolts. Use your imagination, think like a machinist to make something fit where you want it to fit. Also - the HDs come with great wide stainles clamps, but the 1.5">>1.75" area needs a REAL U-Bolt Muffler...

Re: Mounting Sportster Mufflers

I did it, quite simple really. I made a stainless 2to1 Right side exhaust system with HD Black ceramic muffler. Easy to do. Get the correct bolts that fit the HD welded-on nut carrier. The main bracket is simple 3/16 steel about 3.5" wide. I ground it along maybe 1/16" deep, a straight line, and the...

Re: Impressive

That thing is pretty cool ! I'll keep mine though, that one is too shiny and I'd be afraid to scratch it or get it dirty. Yeah, I'd hate to see what Canyonlands & Moab would do to it, even with knobby tires! I think on a "good day" it would be bad enough, but on "midlin-to-bad day", absolutely horr...

Re: cracked exhaust

Labeled for Reference You can buy one of these welders at Yard Sales, usually cheap. (You SS folks love to hear that! ) OK, so do I. Mine cost about $25. I needed to wrap some black insulating tape on one of the cables, but everything works just fine. Good price for something not used very often, bu...

Re: cracked exhaust

You can weld SS with a stick welder if you have the right rod. Determine if you have a "DC Stick Welder" or a "AC Stick Welder", it makes a difference. I have it down in the garage, so I'm not going to look at it right now. Get 1/8" diameter rod, larger diameter will require too much heat, more than...

Re: Sidecar paint job with bedliner

They used a product called Raptor. Not as thick as some of the others. Having my fenders all done up with them as well. ....snip.... If anybody knows of any fellow Ural folks that are doing this within driving distance to Indianapolis, please send me a PM! Anywhere in USA is within driving distance...

Re: looking for a ural mechanic in the spokane, wa area

Are you replacing the FD because of leaks or something? Are you just getting a new FD housing (case, as you call it)? Is this a warranty exchange repair/replace? What model, year? Is it on your 2015? Replacing the FD is easy to do. Really, I kid you not. The toughest part is getting the 22mm nut off...

Re: SPUR Custer SD May 28th- June 2nd 2019

Tires arrived a day early! OK, more work to get everything ready, but green light.

I don't care about the weather, whatever is just fine, some more fine than others not-so-fine. It can't be worse than Moab and Canyonlands!

I am looking forward to seeing Hong/Scout/J & maybe K there...
