Re: Starter Motor Problems
I'm in the UK, so chair is on the left, making kickstarting possible, but a bit awkward. Anyway, so far so good.

Starter Motor Problems
My starter failed a while ago, I stripped it down, cleaned it out, cleaned up commutator, brushes etc, found 2 of the brush springs were sort of shrunk. Anyway put it together, it worked fine for a while, then slowed and failed again. Price for a new one is ridiculous (£320) for what is effectively ...

Re: New to Me, 2002/03 Tourist
Mines a 1wd, left hand sidecar, but I can get my rear wheel out (Heidenau K37) on the centre stand, no bits of wood, concrete floor. It is a squeeze between brake and mudguard etc, but it comes out. I have actually done it twice recently, change wheel over for MOT test, when I found bearings were bu...

Re: Weather proof gps
Yes, I love maps, just dont find them very practical on a motorcycle, especially when its windy/rainy and also if I'm riding off road, and have half a dozen or so mates behind me who probably dont want to stop every few minutes to check if the track we are on is correct, or a legal right of way. Wit...

Re: Weather proof gps
Cellphone doesnt need a cell signal for GPS to work if you have the maps downloaded. I use an old one, with an app called Viewranger for off road stuff, dont even have a SIM card in it. Really?? I always thought that you had to have a data connection for the GPS function to work on a cell phone. I'...

Re: Gotta dig into a starter issue...
Mine packed up this week! A couple of times it either just clicked first push of the button, or turned over slow, then was OK. Next it failed completely. Its a new battery so checked leads etc, shorted out solenoid and motor didn't turn, so today I stripped the motor. It was quite dirty and all the ...

Re: World Travel - Are LEFT HAND sidecars legally allowed to be used on AMERICAN Roads
In the UK, its fine for Europeans etc to bring their right hand sidecars here and use them legally, but we British cannot register a right hand sidecar unless it was manufactured before 1981 !!!! As to altering lean out, I have used my left hand Ural outfit in Europe, and found it handled absolutely...

Re: Brembo Rotor/Disc
That's what I thought, found a couple of write ups on different forums who had measured wear and run out etc, they both said that it was just the bobbins.

Re: Brembo Rotor/Disc
Company here in UK who sell replacement Bobbins kit, with spring washers etc, so you can rebuild disc at fraction of cost of new disc. Obviously need to measure thickness and run out first, but if it is just loose bobbins, Bob's Yer Uncle. http://www.blackshadow-uk.co.uk/Discregrind.html

Re: Brembo Rotor/Disc
OK, thanks for answers, everything is tight, there is just a little play in disc. Last year at MOT test, it was noted that there was play in the nylon bushes on the torque arm, but not enough to fail the test. I replaced these the other day and was a bit surprised to still have a bit of a clunk, all...

Re: Suddenly no electrical power
Firstly, are you getting power at the ignition switch, and if you are, when you turn the key, do you get power on the other side of the switch? If you are getting power through the switch, then check if you are getting power at the fuse box. You will have to use your meter, or a bulb on leads to che...

Brembo Rotor/Disc
Today I replaced the bushes in my front brake torque arm, also the brake pads. On testing, I still had a slight "clonk" when the brake comes on, not really noticable when riding, but if you push the bike forwards and backwards, you can feel and hear it. On inspection, I find there is a small amount ...
