Re: Gear Up or Patrol?

Yep, it's a Gear-Up..it has all the typical Gear-Up stuff: Spotlight, tractor seat, tank toolbox, satin (or sorta flat) paint, no sidecar windshield, etc... My Ural Solo sT insurance policy refers to the Ural Solo as the Ural Wolf. So, you might want to make sure they enter the right model on all th...

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Gauges

So how about a report from all the guys with gauges....what temps do you typically see on a cool day, a warm day, a hot day when things are still kinda normal, and then, what temps make you worry and decide to pull over? When I had my Patrol I could tell by sound, feel, and smell if those cylinders ...

Re: Said Goodbye To My Dog Today

Very sad. Sorry to hear this. I've lost a really special cat a few years ago...she was 15 years old and died miserably, I was gone when it happened and discovered her in a terrible situation...it was tough. Now I have this wonderful little dog and she is my constant companion...I don't wish to think...

Re: I inherited a Polaris Ranger UTV

Wow...and yeah sorry for your loss... Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I was thinking a few years back, that you lived on a smaller city lot...typical back yard etc...So maybe you moved out in the country? Anyway...yeah those are handy...and can be made street legal out in several western states...k...

Re: Looking for a Solo

Are you looking for the retro model or what?

I have a Solo sT that I hardly ride anymore....life has taken me in other directions.

I have not put it up for sale....but I might....

Re: Warm final

Its normal for the final drive to get warm...and on hot days (90+) it will get quite warm after a half hour of riding...this is normal and also helps to vaporize (or whatever the term is) moisture out of the final drive oil.

Re: Ebay 650 solo

I could be wrong but I think some of the 1wd sidecar rigs did come with the taller gearing....although I cant recall the numerical ratio...and what years and what models had what I do not know that either.

I know that my Solo sT has the taller gearing...and runs good.

Re: About to dip a toe in the Russian pool..

I kinda assume most Ural owners have not ridden the Solo, or any of the non-sidecar Urals. Assuming the taller gear ratio is what makes it faster is like saying a Chevy Camaro is faster than a Chevy 2500 Pickup with a slide-in camper because the Camaro's gearing is taller. Its faster because it is n...

Re: About to dip a toe in the Russian pool..

Yep, taller gearing AND a lot less wind resistance and rolling mass, drag etc....in fact some 1WD sidecar rigs have been produced with the taller gearing...and one member here tried it on a Gear-Up (IIRC) and has found the taller gearing was not suitable for a 2WD sidecar rig. So anyway, that is why...

Re: HP to Weight Ratio and Ural Top Speed

But if you look at the specs of a old 1938 Ford sedan with a V-8 with 85 hp, 2 barrel carb, 3 speed that weights 2800 lbs or more and some say it can cruise 85 to 100 mph if needed and top out at 110 mph with 2 people on board.. So how can something that heavy with far more wind drag go so much fas...

Re: About to dip a toe in the Russian pool..

I can cruise effortlessly at 75 mph all day long on my Ural.

Oh, I should mention, its a Solo.

Re: eBikes Vs Regular Bikes?

class 2 electric bikes (with a throttle) may not be legal for use on many bike paths. Most Class 2 ebikes like the one I have, have a button or switch to turn off the throttle, but the pedal assist will still operate. Or the rider can just pedal and not use the twist throttle at all. In fact in mos...
