Re: Pedal Power - Bikes, lets see them!
They really are. Besides modulation and all weather stopping power they are almost maintenance free, replacing pads is a 5 minute job and last me about 7000 miles. Good luck finding any new bikes now, nobody was ready for the covid buying spree.

2 wheeler reflexes (like countersteering) with a sidecar equal unintentional lane changes. and worse. It's a beyotch trying to unlearn them, but worth it.

Re: Pedal Power - Bikes, lets see them!
Used the kid's share of Covid $$ to pick up a Roscoe 7, near fat bike with 2.8" tires. Mostly his but I plan on playing with it, especially in the snow. I'm too damn old to do serious mtn biking but he thrives on bouncing off roots and rocks. 30 tooth crank and 10-50 tooth cassette it can damn near ...

Re: Goodbye Sweet Molly Malone
Nice CT, love the color! Seems like many of the bikes Heindl's sells now are out of state. I need to get over there and stock up on oil filters and a valve cover gasket, but golly, it's like a 20+ miles trip for me! Actually, I fear if I ventured out there I might wind up leaving with a new rig :D (...

Re: 43 y/o newbie
If you get a new or used machine spend a month or two with it and put a couple thousand KM on it before taking off on an extended trip. This will cover the 1st service on a new machine and hopefully uncover any needed maintenance on a used one. And it will probably answer most of you questions about...

Re: Supertech 20-50 V-Twin Full Synthetic
Hmmm, WalMart house brand. Meijer (big box store here) has the same deal with synthetics, I've used it with in cars no issues. Gotta wonder if the name brands are just overpriced or they're cutting corners on the house brands. If your rig likes it I'd stick with it. For the little bit of oil a Ural ...

Re: Battery/kick start question
The battery currently in my K75RT is an Odyssey PC680 that I installed in November 2007. Be aware that a weak battery in a K tends to weld the starter solenoid closed, allowing the starter to run even with the ignition and kill switch off. Only way to stop it is disconnect the battery or bang the s...

Re: Let me see your Jerry cans
Another downside is I usually fill mine without taking it out of the rack. Sideways mount would make that awkward.

Re: Battery/kick start question
It need a little bit of battery to kick start. Somewhere there is a video of attaching a 9v battery to the Ducati ignition which is enough to get it fired up with the kick starter.

Re: Retirement
I "got retired" (laid off) 5 years ago at 62 and decided not to look for another job. Best decision ever. So much less stress! Things I thought were going to be an issue (keeping busy, money) just never materialized. Congrats, you earned it, enjoy!
