Re: Tire changes & info request

Happy with Duro 308s and I can mount them with just tire irons. I keep a 307 as a spare and rotate it to the pusher in winter. Probably get 4-6k km on the pusher, 10 k km on the front and sidecar lasts forever but I rotate them so hard to pin down mileage.

I’ll take the tool box tank with the new style petcock fitting and possible pinhole, if you still have it.

Curious, what do those baffles look like and how do they install?

Re: Pedal Power - Bikes, lets see them!

New bike day! Traded my Trek Roscoe for a new Canyon, the Roscoe was nice but the Canyon is more to my style riding. Son still has his Roscoe, now we can tell the bikes apart. Both bikes retail about the same, with the market crazy right now I sold the 2 year old Trek for for only $100 less than the...

Re: Jetting Carb and tune?

Proper jetting got mine to pull smoothly from idle and up without popping and farting, helped mileage and starting. For performance I added a less restrictive intake and exhaust, which helped but it's still a Ural.....

Re: Daily bike weight ...

How much gas to top off the tank? What kind of mileage you usually get? Running wide open in third up a 4500’ pass fully loaded, yeah, I’m not surprised but I know nothing about fuel injected urals

I expected the worst and was pleasantly surprised. Off camber roads, instinctive counter steering and downhill right handers made me a believer that these beasts aren’t normal bikes!

Re: Staying on the road takes some effort, time and money

Much of my experience mirrors yours, only 60,000km so far. Never had the engine apart but rebuilt trans and rear end around 40K, all new U joints, couple of speedometers, new HES, front wheel bearings and serious rust chasing round out my Ural trials and tribulations.

2012 forest fog is powder coat, easy to check.. Use your fingernail to chip off some paint and there's a layer of rust underneath :D :D

Yesterday I finally got around to mounting the Rotopax. I'm happy with the result.
Dang! Your gobi looks immaculate! Mine hasn't looked that good since it rolled out of Heindl's showroom. :D

Re: New 2021, things to check?

Undercoating probably will help, but the salt gets everywhere and there's lots of nooks and seams for the rust monster to get a foothold. Maybe paint and prep has gotten better since 2012 but I had rust start under the paint in the middle of a panel and spread unseen until it bubbled the paint. My a...
