Re: First test ride after refit

you will lose power at high elevations, even with correct jetting. There's just less air up there. If it cleared up when you descended and you're not planning on living up there I wouldn't worry about it.

Speaking of Jeeps, I saw this on a bicycle ride yesterday. Not many of them made, looks kinda cute.

With a few minor changes it could be very close to their prewar bikes.
Except for that displacement. About a liter too much, those jugs just look out of place. The price you pay going after the bigger is better Trident 3 crowd.

Re: R18 pre order list

I burnt out on the retro thing. new Indians, Triumph Bonnie, PT Cruisers, New Bug, the Dodge Challenger. At least Ural's are genuine, not some designer's idea of what hipster's newest obsession will be.

Re: Kickstart vs. electric start / pre 2014 rigs

I agree, ease of kickstarting is a good indication of the general health of the engine. My electric started ceased functioning years ago so I keep on top of valves, timing, carbs and such.

Re: carrying spares and state inspection

No inspections in Ohio, they tried it decades ago but only in certain counties then scrapped the whole mess. It was for emissions but they checked basic features too. It got lots of unsafe heaps off the roads, people will drive with no muffler, no brakes, rusted frames, etc. Didn't apply to MC though.

Not too much different than normal times, but lots fewer cars to deal with.

Re: Just Venting SORRY about that

Ural's definitely are not for everybody. Plenty of material online for someone to research before they make the plunge. I read up them, expected the worst, and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I have enjoyed last 8 years of owning one. But I'm weird.
