Re: Cut me a slice...

I thought it was full of Kias, not Chevys. Wonder if they'll send the cars to a salvage yard of just crush them.

Someone needs to tell ural they never made a military bike
Maybe, but but it's light years closer to the M72 or even a BMW R71 than the the modern Chrysler-Fiat-Jeep Wrangler is to it's WWII ancestors, and Jeep relentlessly cashes in on it's military history.

Re: Best windshield Fairing or Plexistar 2?

As noted before, the Plexistar is a universal design and "out of the box" mine was a disaster. But lots of tweaking and experimenting got it to where I am extremely happy with it, but it took some patience. The Ural 'shield is model specific so it presumably works better out of the box, I just don't...

Re: Fuel Filters

Yeah, anyone with a carbed bike and the original lines is living on borrowed time, imho. Several years ago the crossover line on mine split in the middle for no reason, draining about 3 gallons of gas all over my garage.

Odyssey pc680 is my go to for my BMWs. They also fit the Urals. Amazon had them for around $115.

Re: Best windshield Fairing or Plexistar 2?

Just for a counterpoint, I don't have the issues with the plexistar that windmill points out, though they are valid for some folks. I think the rigidity has to do with the spacing of the mounts, mine is pretty solid. I look over the screen and have it adjusted so my head is in the pocket, though it ...

Re: Best windshield Fairing or Plexistar 2?

I have no idea which one I have, got it used. Went with the 2 because the 3 has extended leg guards, which aren't needed and may interfere with the Ural leg guards. Heindl lists the 2 and 3 on their website, might be worth giving them a call about the specifics.

Chaos,

Where did you attach your lower attachement points?

Oko,

Here is a link to extension: https://www.laminarlip.com/howwork.php
as high as I could on the fork. Used a giant wire tie to hold it, seems to work OK

Re: Best windshield Fairing or Plexistar 2?

And can I ask... did u make the black trim on that Plexistar? It's called microswirl by Saeng, I found it can increase the size of the "calm pocket" behind the windshield by and inch or two. https://saeng.com/product/gen-4-edging-noise-turbulence-reduction/ I do use the hack windshield, but it blow...

Re: Best windshield Fairing or Plexistar 2?

I have a Plexistar 2, did not like the looks of the Ural shield. Very happy with it, bought it for winter but leave it on year round now. It did take some adjusting to minimize buffeting, I raised it a couple inches above the headlight to get the height I needed (I'm only 5'10") and used a belt sand...

Christmas shopping and dog food.

Was going to get the 12 gal vac for my step son, they had the 16 gal $10 cheaper, no brainer. :boogie:

I tuned up a friend's Mikuni carburetors for him, the thing purrs like a kitten now!

They weren't that far out, but now they are synchronized at idle, at part open throttle, the idle fuel mixture settings
Aaarrrgh! Uni-sync! flashbacks of SU's and whitworth wrenches.
