Re: heated grips

Adding a note on the Oxfords. I love ‘em, but my initial set came with a bad controller. It would never register enough charge to get out of battery saver mode, so I had to turn that off. Initially, Oxford told me it must be my battery, but after push back on them, they sent me a new controller. Wor...

Re: First time buyer: 2018 vs 2019

I was in the same 18 vs wait for the 19 position when I decided to buy my Gear Up last November. The deciding factor was getting roughly $4,000 off asking price on an 18. It may burb and stall here and there, but I love it as is. I was amazed at how well it runs on the highway at 60+, even up grades...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Gave around 100 kids a ride around our church parking lot during the annual “Touch A Truck” fundraiser. All kinds of vehicles are there to allow kids a chance to climb all over them. The giggles and laughs of those kids getting a chance to be in a sidecar will stay with me forever. What a blast and...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Did a 300 mile loop with my 10yo son/monkey. Santa Clarita, CA (home) up through the Antelope Valley over to the top of the Grapevine, through Los Padres National Forest, down into the Central Valley to Bakersfield, then east to Tehachapi and back down through the Antelope Valley again to home. Grea...

Re: Front Sidecar Light Angled Up?

ReCycled/gobium — the “manufacturing practicality over design esthetic” of that feels right and very Ural. It also makes me like the angle, so I’ll choose to believe it.

Thanks for the insight!

Re: Front Sidecar Light Angled Up?

Not sure how a couple of degrees of angle increases visibility, but maybe it does. Obviously, it’s a long-standing design choice from Ural. I’m mildly curious what drove it, like the angled left breast pocket on a Trialmaster jacket. The left jacket pocket is slanted to ease access with right hand....

I'm thinking you mean the blinker-marker light assembly on the fender. I've wondered about that too, figured they had a template for locating them at the factory and that's just the way they like it.
Exactly. It’s like that on the official company promo shots, so it must be intentional.

Installed sidecar fender and nose racks, "dry fit" some bike luggage, and personalized the hack nose.

What color is that?!?!?
Rainier White. In the right light, it’s a very light gray.

Front Sidecar Light Angled Up?

Couldn’t find an answer for this. Why are the front sidecar lights on a Gear Up angled up (not parallel to the ground)?

Re: How do you Stick Your Armrests?

I’m thinking of fabricating a 3D printed a bracket to hold some neodymium magnets with bolts going through the armrest to an outside bracket — kind of a sandwich. Will experiment and report back if it works.
