Re: You still drive a stick?

Everything I own is stick shift. Sucks sometimes, but I like rowing the gears. Got my CDL and learned how to float the gears (not use a clutch when up or down shifting) which makes it better!!

Re: Interstate Blast from NC to Florida and Back

Sounds like a nice trip! I try to avoid the interstates on the Ural, but sometimes it has to be done.

Re: Open face helmet, or full face ....

I have an old Scorpion 3-1 helmet. Mostly ride it as a 3/4. When wet or really cold will put the "full face" portion on. It then acts like a flip up. And yes I know the protective values of a full face, found out the hard way while racing at Road Atlanta...

Re: Navy Motorcycle Riding Requirements

The wife and I went to NAS Pensacola to visit the Air Museum. She was in the side car wearing a dress and sandals. We got denied entry as she had to wear long pants, long sleeve shirt and closed toe shoes. Went to the Wally World just up the road and purchased the required items. Passed through chec...

Re: Running Great Since I bought it. Now...

Update; New plugs, drained both carb bowls, cleaned left carb bowl, checked the vacuum cap (the vacuum petcock has long since been replaced). Test rode and runs normal. Side note- The electric start had not been working for sometime now. At CRAP, we determined it was probably a relay. Finally got ar...

Re: Running Great Since I bought it. Now...

Thanks for more great info. May attempt to follow Wooden Nickle's and Jeff's advice soon! Also no "prime" for the petcock as it has been swapped out for, I believe, a Suzuki one; Off, On and Reserve.

Re: Running Great Since I bought it. Now...

Thanks for the info so far! One of the reasons I bought this bike was the knowledge found here and the willingness to share it!! I replaced the pet cock in 2014 I believe. I recently had the tank off while repainting. Tapped everything off. Perhaps moving the tank around and it being upside down cau...

Re: Running Great Since I bought it. Now...

Update: Now only stumbles right off of idle, but runs ok after that.

The left cylinder runs approx 20-30 degrees hotter than the right side. No problem getting up steep incline unless really low RPM, but fine after that.

Running Great Since I bought it. Now...

Purchased the bike in 2012 from Holowpaw Gene. The bike is a 1995 sportsman with 2008 engine, final drive and transmission, has Ducati ignition. 33,000 KM when I bought it, 77,000 on it now. The bike has lived in Florida since purchased, until April 2019 and now resides in Tennessee. Prior to the mo...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Was riding the other day, about an hour and half into an all day ride and we stopped. While idling for no more than 5 minutes, the ole ruuskie started to sputter and wanted to die. I thought it might be overheating or bad gas. Stopped for lunch to let her sit. After lunch, headed for the gas station...
