Call me tight-fisted, but at that price in the UK it would gather dust forever

Re: Bad valve tappet = metal bits on drain plug

I wonder what material other engine manufacturers use, and how it differs. A long-term plan that incorporates a mass-market generic valve from a high volume manufacturer would seem to be a way to go, but I know nothing.

Re: Retro Seat Attach Plate Weakness

The same sort of thing happened on my 2003 Dalesman (I think the US call it the Tourist). I welded a couple of brace pieces in and rewelded the crack, and then for good measure welded the whole lot to a 3mm plate because I could see it was starting to flex across the middle anyway. Two years on it i...

Re: Quick fuel disconnects?

I've used expensive (to me) stainless steel disconnects and they worked fine, but just as good for taking the tank off in the field is a fuel pipe connecting the two sides directly, crossing over the top of the frame behind the tank and in front of the seat. There's no need to disconnect anything th...

Re: Getting a spark to fit heads

Interesting stuff. I've never heard of indexing washers before, either. But I can't get away from thinking, What Would Ivan Do? I bet it wouldn't be this. Don't take this as a criticism, I really do not want to offend - but I'm guessing that Winter has set in, and you are bored?

2019 Lancashire Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Well, it was a week late because of storms and flooding, but we got there in the end. A series of pictures on a blog page of mine, http://boristhednepr.blogspot.com/ . https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--rhKCMlvjnU/XZn9WfBwysI/AAAAAAAAC8E/Gpqarnx6NPsMDxuqJoUD-S5lBtgLZ1RnwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20191006_102635.jpg...

Re: 2019 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

So you know, the Lancashire DGR was postponed until next Sunday, 6th October due to persistent torrential rain and flooding in NW England. We will be there!

Hey Van, I'm on the 'don't go' list too, you have been a tremendous help, maybe without realising to a Brit Uralist.

Bloody hell, dneprlover, where have you been? Like Snakeoil said, you disappeared SO hard and fast we feared the worst. I probably live closest to you, but without a surname I couldn't trace, so we were left guessing. Welcome back. P.S. I've just looked back through recent posts, and seen that you h...
