I'm not sure a mud hole is going to do the sound quality of a stringed instrument much good, but, hey, why not?

Re: how to remove rubber seat cover!

This might help - it might not, it's pretty vague, but here goes. The ( believed to be ) late SS member Dneprlover came round to my house once to buy some stuff, and he briefly explained in conversation how he fitted tractor seat covers. It involved putting one end of the frame into the new cover ( ...

Re: Ural ? $1k

Hmmm, not sure why the vitriol. I stand by what I said, a Dnepr, in the UK, in that condition, is worth very very little. Tubs and chassis don't fetch much by themselves, and knackered-looking MT's are equally short on customers. The USA may well be different. I've had an MT11, it was a great runner...

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?

Rode about 140 miles round trip from Chorley up into Cumbria, the English Lake District, sightseeing quiet country lanes with no traffic and wonderful scenery. The bike was faultless, of course.

Re: Ural ? $1k

Yep, an over-priced Dnepr. Wouldn't be worth £500 over here. Fools can be parted from money, as ever, but that one is not worth much at all, definitely not $1k

I still want to turn up the tickover to see what happens. I'm a bit far away though :(

It doesn't just need the idle speed increasing does it?

Re: (NOT MINE) I guess we're making up ridiculous prices now...'99 T for $13,246

A 2005 in below average cosmetic condition, with IIRC about 20.000km, sold on Ebay for £1811 recently here in the UK, that's $2350. I expected it to make £2500-£3000. Was gutted when it sold for that little, to someone that wasn't me...

Re: For the shiners.

I've not seen one of these fairings on a UK bike, but I only do one rally a year, where there might be a dozen Urals at most. I expect carriage to be towards £50 because of the bulk, but I'll see.

Re: Russian haters ....

I don't want to put hate on any group, but to a degree I do agree, the HD group is now mostly made up of 45 to 50 year old guys that in there youth could not afford the bike they always wanted. Now in this world of small down payment "how much can you afford a month" they now can ride there dream b...

Re: Is there a trick to...

I can vouch for the guards working really well, I've had the same set up for six years, I put them on as Winter arrives and remove about March. Feet remain almost dry compared to without them, and warmer.
