Re: Monitoring the Wear of the Clutch Disk Teeth

My attempt to measure the wear on the teeth by measuring the play at the donut hasn't worked out. Just last month the teeth on my clutch stripped out after 20,972 km. So far I've had three clutch packs in 72,000 km. The first one lasted 20,253 km, the second 30,326 and last one 20,972 km. Interestin...

Re: Motorcycle K-Tools

I've got several of Lutz's tools. They're sturdy, hold up, work well and are worth the money. He also straightened a bent crankshaft from my 2011 Patrol. I had the pleasure to meet Lutz a few years ago when I was traveling back from Labrador and developed a gas leak. He was kind enough to make time ...

Re: Old School Bike? Old School Bridge.

Here's a still from a video I took while riding my 2011 Patrol across the Louis Gravel bridge in Sacre Coeur Township, Quebec on Old 172. It was September 2, 2014.

Re: Does anyone have a link to the documentary The Ice Run.

Go to the Adventurists web site and look up the Ice Run and you'll find plenty of video. There are other adventures that are great to watch.

My opinion...Motorcycle forums are better without politics. Oil threads are bad enough.

Re: Measuring Driven Clutch Plate Wear

Well, after measuring the clutch release slider and release rod in an attempt to monitor the thickness of the clutch friction material, I stripped out the teeth on the clutch disks after 30,326km. http://sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33502 My measurements at the clutch release slider w...

Re: Monitoring the Wear of the Clutch Disk Teeth

Sorry about taking so long to get to this. Guess I spent too much time fixing then riding the Ural. Last July 2016, I used the measurements of drive line lash and estimated the wear on the teeth to be about 50% gone. The clutch pack was ordered and, figuring things were okay, I continued to ride the...

3/4" boat plug works very well and won't fall off.
