Re: 2019 changes announced

It has been said that engineering perfection is attained by not how much you can add, but how much you can take away. My 2010 GU is a fairly simple machine. Kind of like an old tractor. I can work on it myself. I can interchange the spare with the front wheel if I use safety wire or even string foun...

Re: sandblasting at imperial sand dunes

Nice area and BIG. I heard they filmed one of the Star Wars scenes around there, the one with the big hole in the sand.

Re: airplanes

I found my plane, a lowly 1967 Cessna 150 training aircraft, behind a hangar where it had been sitting for about a year. The previous owner stopped paying the seller, a local mechanic. I bought it for 12 grand. Somehow I've been able to scrape up enough dough to keep it flying safely over the past t...

Re: Anyone ever visited Seoul?

The people are great, the food is excellent, the beer is good, and the traffic is nasty. If you buy stuff that needs to be shipped home, even the smallest stores can arrange reasonable shipping. Overall, I think the Koreans have really got it together. They rebuilt the country alter two very destruc...

Re: UDF leads to Veterans Day Parade

The mule does bring back memories. We had one, stolen via sling load from some other unit, we used for transport from the flight line at An Khe. Eight or so pilots and crew plus gear would pile on for a merry ride as fast as it could be made to go, maybe 15 mph. Oh, to have had a Ural back then!

Re: I want to thank Ural

I like the idea of using AN (Army/Navy - aircraft hardware). The fasteners used by Ivan are likely made in China from scrap metal. AN is U.S. made (or made by vetted overseas suppliers) to aircraft standards. I'm guessing we're seeing a lot of Nyloc fasteners on newer Urals because the cheap stuff k...

Re: Soon a Ural on Patrol

I saw an outfit in New Zealand that had I think two black Urals offering rides to tourists. Looked like they were doing well. Good luck. Sounds like a fun project.

Re: Death Valley

PM sent. The file is too large for SS. If anybody else would like this example of fine literature, I'll need an email address. If you join up with the U.S. Sidecar Association you get the whole magazine!

Death Valley

It looks like the next issue of Sidecar Magazine (U.S Sidecar Association) will have a story about our March trip to Death Valley. Many thanks to all who let me use their photos.

I can't figure out how to download it to the Forum, but if anyone wants it I can send it via email.

Re: Honk if............

"Wacko" is how to pronounce the airplane. "Waico" is Texan for Waco.
