Re: Waking another Gobi in Socal

Washboard Roads! OMG. What is the best strategy for dealing with washboard roads that doesn't beat the rig to death? My rig has Duro HF308s all around 35 front PSI, 32 on the chair and 40 for the pusher. All the factory shocks were set at highest tension. The goal for the Gobi is to tour all around ...

Re: Waking another Gobi in Socal

I returned from the Death Valley Ride last Sunday and I am still in pain. The Gobi ran fine, but this was the first trip on the Ural Enduro seat and my tail bone is still killing me. I am a 6'7" 260lbs and the Enduro seat places me too low and puts my tailbone right up against where the rear fender ...

Waking another Gobi in Socal

Hi All I saw the post Gobium did about waking his Gobi and posted there that I was going to be waking mine too. However instead of hijacking his thread I thought I would start my own. I posted the following in his thread but I am repeating it here for mine. I have lots of questions over and above th...

Re: waking THE GOBI part 1

So, is the gobi awake yet? Yep its Awake. My Gobi was featured in a Hell Bent for Leather Magazine ride review back in 2011. They crashed it in Big Bear and bent up the front end and replaced it with a new one in the field and then returned the bike to IMWA. The bike eventually made its way back to...

Re: Not good news...KLR related

Not Thermo-Bob, he was the doohickey guy and currently responsible for most of the KLR big bore kits, plus numerous other KLR specific modifications. Famous for holding KLR tech sessions in the Socal area. His current secret project was a 765 big bore and carb kit. Rumored to allow a KLR to touch 13...

There is a 15 second count down timer at the top of the page before the thread comes up.

In a nutshell, Mike has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma.

Re: waking THE GOBI part 1

Just got my 11 Gobi out of storage, last time I rode it seriously was to Warped 2 years ago.
Fired up and then died, ran out of battery. Turns out it had a leak in the gas tank balancing tube,
tank was bone dry. Off to the auto parts store for fuel line tomorrow.

Re: Micro Computers

I have 2 pis now, but will have a bunch more once our UIA 1Gbit up and down internet service is installed at the end of this month. Although I have always run perl for my projects, I am working on getting up to speed with Erlang and Elixir programming languages. These languages were designed from th...

Re: Cob's 2017 annual escape the NorWet gloom tour.

Hi Dave It was a pleasure to see you, Jenny, Craig and Newt for dinner the other day. I just wanted to let you know that our discussions about Urals, jeeps, motorcycles and life in general were really helpful to me in prepping for the 2018 riding season. After a heart to heart with Karen, I decided ...

Re: Cob's 2017 annual escape the NorWet gloom tour.

Calling So. Cal, let's ride eat and have fun. Hi Craig I got your message and the 9th or later is good for me. Unfortunately, i back burner-ed my Urals and my KLRs until I could get my DRZs up and running. They are my current work in process and I am not sure I will have one ready by the 9th... but...

Looks great but what if the battery is dead? Is there a way to operate it by hand?
