Re: Alleged M72: $30k?!?

I hope the science and engineering world is ready, because he’s going to blow their minds with that 100% efficient bike. Thermodynamics be damned.

Re: Final drive flush

Drain the oil, put the bike on the center stand, add diesel/kerosene to the FD. Start the bike, and run in first gear for a minute or so. Drain for a few minutes, and refill with gear oil.

I’d like to know where those bags came from.

Front brake micro switch

FYI, the front brake switch plastic plunger is approximately .200” diameter x “.200 long. A #12 screw cut off, with the threads dressed down slightly will fit. Not that I have any experience losing it, *coughs”.

Re: Roller Rockers?

Wow, roller lifters! Like in my servicar motor (same as WW2 era WL motor). How about just some real oil pressure, journal bearings, which means 2 piece rods (like a Dnepr or airhead Beemer, 1950's tech) and hydraulic lifters? That would quiet them down, eliminate valve lash adjustment intervals and...

Re: Roller Rockers?

Funny you mentioned this. Whenever I can get the money to start in on my M72 again (a restomod truck is sucking all my funds right now), I'm going to be working on a roller lifter project. There’s really no point to roller rockers. Won't be too much that the project requires. I've already sourced li...

Re: 2014 Alternator Question

Anyone know how much of a load is safe to put on the 2014 Alternator, running accessories? I'm thinking of getting an isolator to charge a trailer battery while I ride, but I don't want to overtax the Ural's electrical system. The alternator on 2014s are 560W peak. The Denso used to be published as...

Re: 45 to 5o mph is this normal??

I’ve found the speedometer reads ~10% higher than actual speed. I haven’t had a chance to test the accuracy of the odometer.

I’ve never used external filters. Only had a needle valve stick twice in 12 years.

Re: 09 and older Cam bearing modification/upgrade

Im guessing the factory is grinding the end to the smaller diameter (vice the larger diameter on the old ones) on the new style, then heat treating. Not trying to down play the positives of your mod. I’m planning on it on my M72. Just saying the brinelling is a good possibility. Cam is heat treated...

Re: 09 and older Cam bearing modification/upgrade

If the cam isn’t through hardened (surface needs to be at least about 60 Rc iirc), the end will brinell. SKF does make a needle bearing with an inner race that can be pressed on. I can’t remember the part number off hand.
