Re: Top speed

Marco, bear with me cause I confuse easily. :( The advance timing mark(BTDC mark) should show in the window "before" the TDC mark. Are you timing to the correct mark? Maybe roll the motor over by hand and see if you have another mark.

What does one do for parts for the 650s, and older 750s such as crankshafts, pistons/cylinders, heads/valves etc?
For 650 stuff check with Gene(Holopaw's) in FL and Terry Crawford in MI.

Re: New Guy Here and Soon Buying a Ural Gear Up

I'd start with Ski at Triquest up in Santa Clara, CA. Once you order one unless w/special paint etc it only takes a week from the NJ warehouse to CA and then a couple days dealer set-up etc. He may not have a Sahara in stock but should have a 2019 you can test ride/compared to an 018.

Re: New Guy Here and Soon Buying a Ural Gear Up

Jack, word of advice: If buying a brand new Ural, dealer choice is CRITICAL. You want an established dealer that "KNOWS Urals, not just how much they cost. Important for initial set-up and after sales follow-up. Much better off hauling/have delivered from a good dealer. Dealers have to pay up front ...

Re: Top speed

Skizo, no only the EFI bikes had 02 sensors and they're up in the J-pipe(header) not in the exhaust pipe. No idea what those holes are for. If you don't have cats in your 011, they've been removed.

Re: Top speed

Marco, you say it runs fine up to 50ish? What happens at 50 mph? Does it stumble, miss or just no more speed increase? Assuming in 4th gear at 50 on flat ground? What if you grab the clutch and run up the throttle... motor spin up/rpms increase or just nothin more? Adding shims won't give you more h...

Re: Top speed

Odd...for sure. Having to run the idle mix screw out 3.5 turns from soft seat usually says your jet is too small/dirty and you're running really lean. But if you're running new/clean 45's for idle/pilot jets I can't see how you could be running lean? 45's are HUGE! If anything I'd suspect the mix sc...

Re: It sounds like a jet

Whew my old abused ears and internet audio clips rarely play well together but the first stationary clip sounded normal to me???? The 2nd running clip to me has an excess of gear whine(higher pitch)? Especially if grabbing the clutch the whine doesn't change, I'd suspect low or old contaminated or w...

Re: What alloy does the MT9 engine use?

Korto, I am NOT a mechanic or welder but suggest finding another alum welder. No clue on what alloy KMZ/IMZ used back in the day but you can bet it was the cheapest easiest casting method avail at the time. So on the exotic alloy scale...I'd explore the lower end. I've had lots of "old even older" a...

There shouldn't be any spring or washer on pilot jet...

Did you remove the top or bottom of the carb?
+1
Me thinks you're getting the nomen-clatcher mixed up.

Re: My turn!

Notice any new starting/running issues lately? You blowing any black stuff out the tail pipe? If so it may be carbon sludge loosened by fuel? I've seen spark fail or carbs go wonkey and suddenly run extremely rich. Rich to the point where the unburnt fuel is going out the exhaust and it'll w@$# and ...

Re: Air/fuel mixture screw??

On a side note: the idle mix screw is a "fuel" screw. 1.5 turns out from a soft seat is a good starting for point for carb tuning.

Looks like a tall one. I guess there are variations depending who made it.
I think you're correct Mike. From what I've seen, the Brooklands "style" screens made in China are taller than the ones made in England.
