Re: First oil change maybe? Normal oil change?

I use to say " why wait until tomorrow what you can avoid all together" , but now I say "today is a great day to change the oil!"

If this forum had a "LIKE" button for thread replies, I would be punching a lot of them! All good stuff.

Re: First oil change maybe? Normal oil change?

I just might send in an oil sample or samples for testing after 1000 miles.

Re: First oil change maybe? Normal oil change?

Kind of changing the subject, does anyone here go out of their way to use GL4 gear oil instead on the newer and more readily available GL5? In other threads I have seen some peoples concerns of using GL5 in the final drive because of one bronze bushing in it. But now I see that IMZ-Ural is recommend...

Re: First oil change maybe? Normal oil change?

Do you "Blackstone " guys just send in the motor oil or do you send in transmission and final drive oils too?

Re: First oil change maybe? Normal oil change?

Thanks. I will probably change the oils again in 1000 miles for the fun of it just to see how hard the units are working, "milling" themselves to perfection!

First oil change maybe? Normal oil change?

Hello! I just bought a used 2019 Gear-Up with only 1800 miles from a guy who was the second owner. He said bought the bike with about 800 miles on it and the services were up to date, so I guess that means it had the 500 mile service. I by chance found the dealer (600 miles away) who sold the bike n...

Re: Should I buy a Ural?

I bought mine used. Got a "test ride" in the hack. I kinda do not blame them for not letting me drive it... I am super selective about who I will give the keys to my bikes when they are for sale and a stranger comes to my door. Hell, I will not even let a stranger know where I live if I have a bike ...

Re: Should I buy a Ural?

Congratulations! Take it slow and easy, until you get comfortable maneuvering at some higher speeds. Be safe! I AM taking it slow but still I got the sidecar wheel off the ground for a yard or two yesterday. It is getting more fun every time I ride it. "In Soviet Russia, bike ride you" https://www....

Re: Should I buy a Ural?

It is a dark blue metal flake. I think it is called "Baikal Blue". Post #2 on this page (page3) is a photo of the actual
bike I bought.

Re: Low voltage at idle

I have had several Deltran "Battery Tender"s over the years and lost several batteries to old age. The batteries that die were usually on the bikes that were not ridden regularly. Ever since I got the Optimate-4, I have not lost a battery. The oldest one right now is on a seldom used 2014 Triumph......

Re: Low voltage at idle

I have a 10 year old Optimate-4. Best trickle charger I ever had. Well worth the money. I too like to charge a battery on it for a couple days days then give it a week or two off.

Re: Low voltage at idle

I went to my local dealer and asked if they could match the lowest price I could find on-line... they did.

Re: Low voltage at idle

Yes, the YTX20H and YTX20 (and YTX20HL and YTX20L) are the same size. The L version puts the positive terminal behind the left side cover. The non-L puts the negative terminal on the left. Ural switch to the non-L in 2019 because it’s a bit safer having the negative post be the one that’s easy to d...
