Re: Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

Great information and very much appreciated. Got the bike back to my shop and expect to get started soon (my dog is getting impatient). My plans got sidelined by moving to a new home....still unpacking. The links are very helpful and the insight from others that have experience with these rigs is in...

Re: Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

Three broken teeth and lots of metal flying around. Dealer quoted $2200 complete parts and labor for a replacement but just found out that drive is backordered until 21 Nov. If I can find a unit faster I will do it myself, saving money and hopefully some time. Welcome advice on a reliable source for...

Re: Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

Donut is fine. Attempted to reverse out of garage to load on trailer and it would not go into gear and emitted a very loud grinding noise. At one full tire rotation it clanks and shudders in the same place. She’s going to dealer, the gasoline can and matches are too near at hand right now and too mu...

Video of the terrible noise...
Jacked her up and placed in first gear with a light touch of rear brake.

Re: Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

Jacked her up and found a final drive cover bolt missing and the other bolt loose. I tightened the existing bolt and replaced the other, hoping I had found a simple fix. Sadly no, when I placed the bike in gear and lightly applied rear brake to put a load on the drive it banged really loud with a p...

New Owner-2015 Gear Up

Greetings, new owner with a flat grey 2015 Gear-Up. Reside in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Calico Rock, Arkansas after leaving north Texas and a long aviation career courtesy of the Covid scourge. I am actually incredibly lucky in spite of this mess as I live in a beautiful place and am exactly wher...

Re: Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

Thanks,
Looking at the manual I was not in 2wd. I will try some of the things you mentioned tomorrow. I do my own wrenching but the bike is new to me.

Re: Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

I rode it afterwards with 2wd engaged and not, same loud clunk at each rotation. I plan to take a closer look tomorrow in the daylight. Had a great time on the rig today. The fall colors are popping in NW Arkansas and SW Missouri.

Final Drive-Driveshaft Clunk

This is not the first post I wanted to make on this forum, but here goes. Picked up a 2015 Gear-Up today and rode it about 120 miles to my cabin where I have a shop and can keep it dry This is my first sidecar rig and Urals are new to me. The last leg of the ride is gravel and the last mile or so I...
