Re: A big thank you!!
FWIW on the epoxy. I took care of several docks on Lake Travis from 10 to 100 slots and secured the cables with epoxy secured anchors and had no problems with them holding even in nasty storms. Never had a failure.

Re: The "Ex-Ural Guy"
Interesting dude. Its probably for the best that I'm not wealthy or I could see myself at least trying to do the same type stuff. Only odd thing to me is why a guy who obviously has his $#!+ together and who does such extensive prep would choose a ural for the trip. Don't get me wrong, I love me som...

Re: Dual battery
What is the purpose of a dual setup? Auxiliary power when engine is off? I have the same question, are you after aux power? or is it concern over a dead battery start up? I am not a hardcore camper guy like a lot of folks here so all of my Aux comes from a small tractor battery I keep in an ammo bo...

Re: piston / cylinder improvements and sustained high speed
Keep in mind that most of the time you only hear the horror stories. If you try to run these things like a kawazukionda chances are it will not end well, but on the other hand you have guys like me, no prior experience with a sidecar, average (at best) mechanical skills, buys a pre EFI 2013 Tourist ...

used 1WD FD 1997
I bought a 1wd FD from a 1997 a couple of weeks ago at a good price from a member here (thanks again arbalest) but it turns out all the scary assed metal in mine was from me overtightening the FD to swingarm bolts and pulling the heads partway through the housing. Ural Paranoia Syndrome got me. In t...

Re: Riding with a bad right leg.
Looking through cycle trader and thought of your dads issue. There is a triumph rig in there that appears to have much more room than a ural on the tub side, partly because of the cylinder configuration. Might be worth a look.

Re: Considering getting a Ural, what am I in for?
What are you in for? Ear to ear grins for the most part. Simple as that. It is NOT a honzukikawa. Use it as it was designed to be used. With some time on board they are not that hard to operate assuming that it is set up correctly. U of NE has a excellent rep so set up shouldn't be an issue. Like an...

It is obviously time for legislation requiring psych evaluations and a waiting period before driving a Genesis on the roads.

Re: What did you do ON your Ural today?
FD waiting on rebuild so I've been tooling around on my old Massey Ferguson and realized that my Ural really does shift like a tractor. !6 inches total but melting fast. 6*F in am 2 days past and supposed to be 63*F on Tuesday. Strange storm just 15 miles NNM of here only got 6 in total.

Re: Perseverance
I am amazed that since my time in high school, we have went from the first moon landing to putting this thing on Mars. This type of thing is so normalized now that it is only treated like the fantastic event that it is in certain venues. The math involved in this project is so far beyond my comprehe...
