Re: 2019 Tappets and Intake Manifolds

Checked the 2019 Sahara tappets today at 10,000 km. They are all spot on 0.004. So they haven't changed since the bike had 850 km on it. Replaced the existing standard rocker cover gaskets with new standard gaskets and that went well. We did notice that the manual says replace the intake manifolds a...

Re: 2019-2020 Fuel Filter

Thanks for your comments guys. Good to hear from Heindle Engineering on experience with 2019-2020's. Do you fit a quick disconnect fuel coupling to the 2019/20's when you take the tanks off?

2019-2020 Fuel Filter

For my 2019 Sahara there is a scheduled replacement of the fuel pump filter at 15,000 km. I believe the pump unbolts from the bottom of the tank and then looking at the parts diagram its replacing a filter sock and gasket. Has anyone had a go at replacing this filter?

Re: Sidecar Stories?

Robp and Peter Pan, thanks for your response! The "Continental Ride Route" sure sounds like a really good ride and featuring the dog in the chair of the Gear Up. There is a lot of detail so I am still working my way though that story. The "Happy as a Cow"story is great. What an adventure on a 350 Ja...

Sidecar Stories?

Has anyone got any good sidecar stories? About trips they have done or links to other peoples rides? I enjoyed this youtube video of a ride from Moscow to Magadan on a cT 2017. It goes for 1hr 45mins and is really well produced. At one stage he has the outfit towed through some water with the motor ...

Re: 2019 Tappets - km's between adjustment?

10,000 kms was a good guideline for doing the tappets on the BMW airhead boxer twins. Occasionally they would need doing more frequently. I always found you could hear when they needed adjusting over the hundreds of thousands kilometers I rode on them. When the rockers were upgraded to have needle b...

Re: 2019 fuel tank drain

Hi Grisly, I have been also wondering the best way to take a 2019 tank off. I will be interested to hear how you get on. Its hard to get much specific maintenance information on the 2019's. It would be great to have some videos on how to do things or a good workshop manual.

2019 Tappets - km's between adjustment?

I am looking for some feedback on how often tappets are likely to need adjusting. On my 2019 Ural the head torque and tappets were adjusted on assembly and then again checked at 850km. I now have about 9,000km on the bike and it is running really well. The tappets sound the same as at 850km and don'...

Re: Any Ideas on this Starter Issue?

I have a similar intermittent starting issue on my 2019 Sahara. It was an April delivery model in Australia. It’s not a big issue, it just sometimes takes two or three presses of the starter button and it fires up. I believe it’s an issue with a change in the wiring on 2019 models. It may be somethi...

Re: 2019 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Last weekend we had a fantastic day for the DGR in Nowra, NSW, Australia. We had 75 riders and raised over $10,000 for the cause of Men's Health. Thanks so much to the Soviet Steed members that sponsored me. Thanks Dr Faulken, Joseph, James and Hal. Your contributions to the cause are greatly apprec...

Re: 2019 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Hi Dr Faulken, That is a very generous offer of you to donate to the DGR. It is such a good ride for raising awareness and funding for mens health issues. I have done three DGR's and have always met lots of great people on the ride. I am doing the Nowra (Australia) DGR this year on my 2019 Sahara. I...

Re: Luggage rack - weight limit

Thanks for all your advice. Its good the rack is solid. I will have the fender rack and front rack and my wife in the chair.

I will try and get some of the load on to the front rack, but being a learner I am cautious that the chair may nose dive in corners.

Luggage rack - weight limit

Hi, I am in Australia and have a 2019 Sahara on order and will pick it up some time this month. Exciting as its my first sidecar! I am trying to decide if I should purchase a 5.5kg tent or a better quality 10kg tent. Can anyone give me information on how much weight you can carry on the original equ...
