Re: 2019/2020 Starter Problem and Wiring Harness Fix

Thanks for your input on the T-tap connector; I see it wouldn't be suitable for this kind of connection where higher voltages are involved.

Re: 2019/2020 Starter Problem and Wiring Harness Fix

I will go over it as I have the file now. A T tap has the issue of not the greatest connection. I did it on the tach hookup but that has tiny current flow. I just pulled it up. What they are doing is maintaining the yellow feed while a direct feed from the yellow wire to the blue brown into the har...

Re: Intermittent Starting Problem

This is the edited version of the service bulletin from Heindl: >>1. Remove the left side battery cover and disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2. Remove the fuse box, exposing the wiring. 3. Locate the blue/brown wire going to terminal location B10. Cut the wire on the harness side and fold i...

Re: 2019/2020 Starter Problem and Wiring Harness Fix

I just received a sheet from Heindl Engineering due to a wiring harness problem in 2019 & 2020 rigs. The .pdf file is too big to add. Here are slightly edited instructions. 1. Remove the left side battery cover and disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2. Remove the fuse box, exposing the wirin...

Intermittent Starting Problem

2019 GU with 3K miles. Just today began having problem. Key on, kill switch on, neutral, hit starter button, hear a single click and that's it. Starter doesn't turn over. Not the continuous clicking I associate with a bad solenoid or weak battery. I rock the bike a little in gear and starts immediat...

Re: Portland, OR Ural closing..

Ural dealers closing seems to be (if you'll excuse the phrase) an epidemic. First Triquest in Santa Clara, CA and now Portland. IMZ doesn't seem too interested in establishing replacement dealers either. Ski at Triquest told me that he had been telling Redmond for over a year that he was going to cl...

Re: Trusting the manual for torque specs

I think a general rule of snug tight plus a another quarter turn is much too tight in most instances. You know, I could very well have gotten that wrong. Perhaps it was hand tight then quarter turn because, as you say, that does seem excessive. BTW, manual for my 2019 lists 16 ft./lbs for all the f...

Trusting the manual for torque specs

Newbie here. Now that I'm doing some wrenching on my GU, I've come across several threads where experienced owners say the torque listed in the manual is too high. Specifically, I've seen mention that the rear brake caliper mounting bolts should not be tightened to 36.9 ft. lbs and the valve cover n...

Re: Trailer ready to go

That looks astonishingly like the Aluma 638 I bought in late winter, right down to the anti-skid tape you applied! These trailers look as though they were manufactured specifically for Urals, don't they? Perfect fit. I'm wondering why the concern about wind damage because of the tonneau cover. Why ...

Geckoboy, Love the setup, also your windscreen. Who makes that windscreen?
The windscreen is made by Memphis Shade right here in the USA; I had it installed by the dealer when I bought the rig.
