I'm interested in the research someone did. Can you provide a link or source for that discussion?
Took me a while to find it. I think the link should work even if/though you aren't logged into the forum.

Re: Leaking input seal on final drive

I never paid attention to the LS or non-LS qualities of gear oil before acquiring my 2015 R1200RT this spring, but during my learning process of the service intricacies of that bike I found that BMW is VERY specific about the gear oil requirements for the FD. They would like owners to use some stupi...

The neutral light switch is located in the side of your transmission here:

Very nice and lucid explanation of the neutral lamp switch. :D

Re: WTB Ural 2014 or newer

Nice-looking /6, but having owned a /6 and two newer Urals (2014 and 2020), the Ural (Brembo) front brake is much better. You need all the brake you can get with a rig, and I'm not sure that BMW rig even has a sidecar brake (maybe it does). I really just prefer something built as a dedicated sidecar...

Otherwise you are not re-torqueing your heads, you are just playing with your nuts.
Excellent advice! :D

Re: REVERSE-THROW SET-SCREW MYSTERY 2000 DECO CLASSIC

I can't offer anything constructive here, as the only gearbox I've ever been inside is the one on my 2020 GU. But I saw your near-identical posting on the FB page, and I'm guessing that the only way you're gonna be sure is to pull the gearbox apart. There are certainly some people on this forum who ...

Re: Pay to restore or buy already finished?

Don't know how relevant my number here is, but two years ago (early 2019) I had the tub of my previous 2014 GU media blasted, "bodyworked" (the shop thought that the wavy sheetmetal was damaged, but it was just OEM Ural), and a bit of welding done. Then they shot it in epoxy primer and single-stage ...

Re: Clutch stuck on daily driver

Update to the clutch problem. I tore it open myself and easily found the problem. First friction plate demolished, just fell out in pieces. Oh, and good on you for doing your own work. I think you will be happier with the overall result by just doing the job yourself, and it's good to become famili...
