Re: Will be out of the URAL community for a while

I made the move from Ca to ATL a couple years ago and live close to where you will be. I did rent some storage for my bikes before I bought my house. Hit me with a PM if you’re interested in where, I do think it would be a good solution for you. You’ll want to ride north of the city anyway and so it...

Re: Am I forcing myself?

No problems cruising at 65mph all day long in my 2017 Gear Up. I’ve also changed the fluids frequently and seen no signs of excess wear. I wouldn’t push it to 70mph cruising everywhere though, the vibes pick up quickly as you approach that speed.

Re: The future Ural Models

Id really like a 5-speed transmission, and hopefully it is backwards compatible. The ability to cruise at 70-75 mph would really enhance usability.

Re: Trans and Rear oil Choices

I changed the tranny and final drive fluids yesterday and after running the Redline heavy shockproof, there was a very minimal amount of swarf on the magnets. Pretty pleased with that...also i had read it could be difficult to remove the heavy shockproof so I took it on a 20 min highway ride before ...

Re: 2019 changes announced

If there is a way to retrofit 2014+ Urals with a better running FI system, I would be game to do so on my 2017 Gear Up.

Re: More Than One Neutral?

I have 3 Neutrals on my bike. Last weekend it took me 3 tries to leave the one between 2-3 and I ended up in 4.

Re: Was there really any difference?

Yes, with the Redline heavy shockproof you can feel the “cushion” in the gearbox once the fluid warms up.

Re: Should I Upgrade from 2006 Tourist to 2014+ EFI Model?

My 2017 easily spins to 70, I cruise at 60-65 though as some minor vibes creep up closer to 70. 65 is butter smooth and it can pull me up any hill solo at that speed too...the new engines must be much better than the old.

Re: Engine Pop a.k.a. Russian Percussion

Ah, well this answered my question too. Had a few pops while i was leaving the house today. Might let it warm up another minute before leaving. I kind of like it though.

Re: Very loud backfires/detonations

I know this is an old thread....but I hear some pops on mine when braking and shifting sometimes....figure it is the off-road map on my 2017 Gear Up? It’s not that loud but everything is stock, but enough to hear some pops.
