Re: Fuel burn: 2005 with 20k vs 2013 with 3k?

Ural engines typically don't get really broken until they have someplace between 10,000 and 15,000 kilometers. Also Ural never run rich new unless the dealer or owner has made changes to them. Urals run very lean in order to meet EPA requirements. Syonyk, My observation is the similar. At 6,000 km ...

For those keeping track of the progress (and lack thereof) of my clutch, the issue has been discovered.

Waffl6,

you are doing a great job wrenching on this bike! Hopefully, when you get it buttoned back up, you will get some trouble free miles behind you. good luck.

Re: Cannot engage in reverse

AA My bike is a 2013 gear up. the only way i can find neutral is by going into first gear, then i apply a gentle pressure on the heal shifter while simultaneously moving the neutral/reverse lever backward. this will get the transmission in neutral and sometimes it will go directly into reverse, othe...

Re: 2013 GU poor fuel economy

I have been through three more tanks of gas. No calculation from the first tank due to taking the carbs off three times, 23 mpg on the second and 27 mpg on the third. This was with 130/42 jets, one shim, and riding conservatively. Today I checked the valve lash, removed the shim (no shims now) and ...

The 2013 GU owners manual shows 736 pounds empty weight and 1344 pounds max gross weight. 608 pound useful load! edit: link to the 2018 owners manual https://static1.squarespace.com/static/58c1ef5abf629ab8bade3657/t/5a4d72e3652dea036c962f50/1522245433673/2018+Gear-up_cT+Manual.compressed.pdf 2018 GU...

Re: Shifter nut size?

Hmmm. Going through old pics mine doesn’t seem to have a spacer. But mine does look just like the linked pic :D Upon doing some more research it appears yours is the "old style" shifter which is thicker than the 2012 new style. The new style has a spacer built in to make it the same thickness. In r...

Re: Shifter nut size?

It also looks like there is a spacer in your pic, or is your shifter different? I have an 08 patrol. I cannot find reference to the "spacer" in any drawings. mine is a 2013 gear up and it has some sort of spacer. here is link to Holopaw ural exploded view. I don"t know what year the drawing is in r...

Re: Shifter nut size?

Anyone know off the top of their head? Also do I need any washers, and should I use a nylock nut? I am referencing from a 2014 parts manual. Looks like a "spring washer m8 ZN" and a "cap nut m8 ZN5.8". The washer looks just like a split lock washer i'm assuming metric m8 size? and maybe zinc plated...

Tornado damage in Ohio

I try to ride my Ural every day but this week i was not able to. I was busy helping my Family clean up debris from tornado damage. This is my Father in laws home. rv2.jpg The house suffered mostly cosmetic damage, it will need a new roof, siding and only one broken window. The barn was a hundred and...

Test drive result: right pull gone, steering straight now.

I am glad you were able to fix your problem :D . Looks like you are located in the middle of Civil War country, the Ural will be good for touring the battlefields.

Re: Rear wheel not aligned, possible fix?

I've been fighting issues with the bike pulling to the right in spite of all alignment specs being correct. I've noted that the rear wheel point slightly to the right. With a staightedge against the front an rear tire about 6" off the floor, I see a gap at the front of the rear tire of about 3/16"....
